At this point, Smash Ultimate has finished the first round of DLC fighters. And out of all of them, the only two I care about were Piranha Plant and Banjo-Kazooie. Probably because they're the only ones whose games I've had any deep familiarity with prior to their inclusion in Smash. Plus, Piranha Plant was free if you registered Smash Ultimate within the first two months of its release, so there's that.
Since Daisy's inclusion in Smash Ultimate, there's been quite a bit of artwork focusing on Waluigi and Daisy in regards to being included or excluded (essentially this game's version of Rosalina and Daisy for Sm4sh). One of my favorites is a comic where, after waiting so long for a Smash invitation, Waluigi gets one but gives it to Daisy when he sees her crying over not getting one. After seeing a drawing of the Flower Princess and the Plant , I got to wondering if maybe Piranha Plant was also a gift he gave her. He has a potted Piranha Plant in his Mario Party 3 artwork , and it's his default partner in that game's Duel Mode. Maybe he wanted her to take care of it while he was busy with his Assist Trophy duties. And perhaps, along the way, there was a mix-up that caused both Daisy and Piranha Plant to both become fighters. Maybe I'll draw a comic about it someday...
