Something I like with video games (and perhaps other media) is concept art or cameos that aren't inherently canon, but wouldn't be out of place in canon. They allow for artists to come up with new ideas almost as a collective unit. One such example is how the ending for NES Tetris features different Nintendo characters playing instruments. As far as we know, Samus might know how to play cello, even in her power suit. It seems one of the most popular in recent years is guitarist Rosalina from Super Mario Odyssey's concept art. It's provided fanartists with a lot of ideas, such as her playing a sweet song for someone's birthday .
Since both Pit and Rosalina play stringed instruments, I thought it would be cute to draw them playing them together. No idea what they're playing. I don't know many songs that use both violin and guitar, but I'm sure one exists. Or maybe they're just playing random notes and stringing them together into a harmonious duet. Either way, they're happy to spend Valentine's Day together during #TheYearofPitalina .
And with the Vancouver tour starting on Wednesday, I thought it would be good to draw Rosalina in her new aurora dress. Actually waited until Tuesday night to see her outfit just so I could draw it here. And to go along with it, I went with a red and pink version of the Northern Lights in the background. Seemed appropriate for Valentine's Day.
