"Help...Can't...open mayonnaise."For the second part of Screenshot Saturday, I went with my first favorite show ever, SpongeBob Squarepants. I think for most kids my generation/age-range, SpongeBob was their favorite show. It was funny, it had entertaining characters, it had memorable stories, etc... It's just too bad the show ended after the 3rd season and the movie. I wonder what the world would be like if the show had, I dunno, 13 seasons and 3 movies...
Two of my favorite characters in the show are Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy, played by the late Ernest Borgnine and Tim Conway. I've always enjoyed superhero episodes of shows, so I tended to enjoy watching their episodes. The first "Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy" episode is probably the episode I've come closest to memorizing entirely because of how quotable the whole thing is.
I decided to draw my favorite moment from the duo's second appearance, when they hear SpongeBob use the conch signal, rush to his house, and find him passed out on the floor. And the reason why...is because he can't open a jar of mayo.   I decided to make SpongeBoy me bob a human for this, since I normally draw human/humanoid characters. It made more sense for me to go with a human version of him instead of keeping him a sponge if I was going to redraw this in my style.
