Over the past few years, I've been attempting to do more action-based drawings of Vert. I want to make the alien weapon stuck to his arm actually meaningful, and the best way to do so is to, you know, have him use it. A couple years ago, he eliminated a t arget with it (which Pete thought was dangerous ). He's also used it to clear a path in the snow. But that's about it...
I thought I'd draw Vert testing its power by using it on some trees. In the short story I wrote about how he got that weapon, he uses it to make firewood out of a fallen tree. So its beam seems to have the ability to damage wood without burning it. With his boundless curiosity and desire to experiment to test things, he's decided to see just how powerful it can be against live trees. It's able to break tree bark, though it hasn't done much damage to the rest of the trees...
