Being a patient means being deaf.Doctors talk in hushed tones
behind the blue curtains
as though you can't hear them
or you're unable to understand their words.
But I'm mentally ill, psychotic, but not deaf or dumb.
I wish in those moments they knew what was going on
Inside my head.

Yes. This. One of my first psychiatrists years ago didn't want to tell me what my diagnosis was. Only us mentally ill people get treatment like that. Can you imagine a doctor not telling a cancer patient they're diagnosis? Nope.

I hate it so much, it's so ridiculous. Knowing your own diagnosis helps you to identify warning signs and symptoms, and helps you battle it. You hit on on the head saying that they wouldn't withhold that information from someone with a physical illness

Sometimes imagining it is worse, isn't it? I've had similar problems, and when they don't tell you it just eats at you.
