Description
I finally got the reference for this beautiful lady done.Name: Isabel
Breed: Belgian x Rocky Mountain Horse
Gender: Mare
Height: 15.2
Color: Silver Dapple (bay)
Eyes: Green
Temperament: Very sweet, but tends to get nippy if she doesn't get her way.
History: A&R bought her from Silver Stone Stables (~Hathien603 ) a bit after her breeding with Kareem. She now spends most of her days running around the pasture, occasionally being used as a lesson horse when the stables are extremely busy.
I'm amazed how long this took- that said I'm not using grey-scale anymore, because I find it a bit too difficult to work with in SAI.
Art (c) ~Rosela

Thanks! I just haven't done this style in a while so it was almost similar to trying out a new style.

Holy crap I totally forgot you bought her! I knew she looked familiar lol!
Wow, this looks awesome, Rose! I love the coloring, especially the blue/purple hues on her back. And the pose is lovely, It makes her look really powerful and emphasizes her draft influence
Anyways, lovely work, you're getting better all the timeeee

I know I've drawn her headshot only once!
The background was soo quick, I was afraid it would look too junky.
You've been getting better and better like every second I see your art, so I've felt the need to improve. Now I just need to figure out what next to do. It's so hard for me to figure out poses these days- so I'm really glad you like it!
Life has been hectic to say the least. I had plans on doing comics for DA and my horse stables- but my computer cord died, so I'm using my mom's. I hope she won't mind all the art programs.
I got SAI for free from a friend, it's a good program.... just not all that great for greyscale. They have the multiple/normal/screen/luminosity/overlay/ and binary color options for the layers- but I use hard light for my horses normally... so it just doesn't work.

Thank you Use some stock references! That's what I've been doing lately, and why I think I'm improving so quickly. They really do help you better understand anatomy
Hmm, can you splice your cord or is it just totally dead? Cause that sucks.
I've heard SAI is amazing, especially the lineart and water tool parts. I'd like to get my hands on it someday. That's awesome that your friend gave it to you for free

it's not the cord- it's the box part of the cord that's fried. I have to buy a new one somewhere and that will probably be around $125. So my mom deals without having a computer for a bit, while I get stuck not being allowed to download any art programs on her computer (that said, SAI is from a jumpdrive so I just pull it over to a jump drive when I give back the computer to her)
SAI is great for lines and such but... not grey scale. So I really need to relearn everything else. It shouldn't be too hard, but it is difficult getting the right colors and tones. I don't want to always use references. I need to wean myself off of them sometimes. They're great but if you use one every time you never know what you're capable of.

Ughh, that sucks :/ That's awful expensive for a little cord!
It should be fun learning a new program I don't think it's bad to use references. They're really helpful, and you can still add your own style to what you're drawing. But, I know what you mean about the capability thing

I'm currently working on a Melanthios reference. I have soo many references to work on it's not funny. I'm not organized at all. It is fun learning a new program, but that doesn't mean part of it isn't tedious. I need... to make better hair/mane/tail/feathers. I've tried working on it, but it just doesn't seem to be working out for me as well as it should.

Aww, I love Melanthios! I have a lot of refs to do too And just a lot of art in general to do. Refs take so darn long!
I'd say try not drawing every single strand of hair and just focus more on shading locks of hair ^^ That's something I had a bit of a problem with also

They do if you want them to look as good as Isabel does! I should make them quicker though. I know a few horses actually have refs..
