Description
This is an ancient watercolour I did back in maybe...grade 11 or 12 for Remembrance Day (Veterans Day US). I just dug it up to show my skillz. The shadow under the horse looks bad b/c I only just now added it in Photoshop...I should fix it but I'm too lazy.Related content

I like the meaning behind this picture. It really does look like the horse is mourning over the death of its rider. I remember that in times of war, horses and their riders were inseperable so it brings true to have it mourn the loss of the one closest to its heart.
This watercolor is so pretty. The many shades of grey are blended nicely and give this a sad feel. Nice idea to color the roses! It creates a focal point to the grave and connects the feelings of the horse to the viewer. Beautiful piece!

hehe, have you been sneaking into my art history lectures? honestly you'd do well...my profs LOVE words like "focal point". Anyway, this is an emotional peice, and i'm glad you like it...i was worried ppl would think it was a bit too sentimental or whatnot...but luckily thats not the case, so I'm happy!

i like the color scheme of this. i wonder what the horse is mourning over, his dead soldier?

I wonder that sometimes too. I guess it goes back to me believing in some form of chivalry where rider and horse were inseperable. I know that traditional military funerals used to feature a riderless horse to signify a fallen soldier so I guess thats kind of what I was trying to portray here. Glad ya like it, thanks for the comment!
