This scenario would actually make more sense with Rarity and Trenderhoof. I should feel very baaaaad about putting Twilight in this situation. I suppose I just had to be the one to do this first. Obviously, if you're a hardcore FlashLight shipper, you won't be here, but ya know, if you're open-minded, you might enjoy this. I have an unorthodox sense of humor. I'm just inflicting it on Twilight. It'll be hilarious. I hope she at least looks like a crazy person. She's good at that. And Flash just wants to get away. And yes, I realize I didn't include their Cutie Marks. It kinda just slipped my mind. Ship Song: "Clark Gable" by The Postal Service.

Story Time!

Twilight was staring at him. It's really intense, and it's freaking Flash out. The sweat's just pouring down his face. He doubts she's noticed yet, even though she's staring that intently, with a wide toothy smile that's not making this any easier for him. If she just noticed that he felt awkward, maybe she'd ask why and they could settle this like civilized ponies.

Or he'll get vaporized. That's one more reason he never should have dated an all-powerful alicorn princess.

Yes, she'd been a really good girlfriend, but now he just couldn't handle it. They both needed to get on with their lives, and he was pretty sure that breaking it off would be the hardest part. That, or the aftermath. Twilight could be a little unstable, a little obsessed with the little things. Like he said, vaporization for the bigger things.

When he put himself up to look directly into her eyes and not the interior of the restaurant, he thought that she looked expectant, of what he couldn't tell, like bubbling water inside. The simple answer was that she was just really happy to see him, since he still stood duty in the Crystal Empire and she had her life in Ponyville. And that's the way it should be, he consoled himself. She would understand. She lived for understanding, after all. And yet he still felt guilty.

Why is this so hard?

A shiver prickled up his spine. His eyes darted to where the bubblegum pink magic was taking form on Twilight's horn and the pillow she sat on. The pillow seemed to be slowly levitating upwards. But why?

Woah, her face is way too close.

In mere seconds it seemed to him, Twilight had levitated half way across the table that separated them. She blinked owlishly, that toothy grin getting wider if that was even possible. He was sweating buckets, it's not like he could tell what she was thinking. Her visage seemed to glaze over in his mind's eye.

"Mister Flash Sentry, don't you have anything to say to me? You brought us to such a nice restaurant, the Crystal Chandeliers are a very nice touch, in fact; Rarity would applaud you. So what are you waiting around for?"

No, no, no, who takes his girlfriend to a nice restaurant to dump her?! Nopony! She would have liked any place he'd taken her to. She understood that Guard wages weren't the best when dating was involved. He'd had to dip into his savings to afford this place! This wasn't a special occasion; It was the opposite of a special occasion!

Whenever they actually had gone on a fancy date, it was always her call on where they would go because it was always her Princess Treasury that was hoofing the bill. He really should have listened to the guys at the barracks. But darn it if he just wanted to treat her to some place nice at least once. To prove that he could. Even if it had to be the last time.
