Description
'Little Girls, it seems to sayNever stop upon your way
Never trust a stranger friend
no one knows how it will end
As you're pretty, so be wise
Wolves may lurk in every guise
now its then, tis simple truth-
Sweetest tongue has sharpest tooth'
-Angela Carter and Neil Jordan, Company of Wolves (1984)
Just a random pic of Miss Melanie Dirge as 'Red Riding Hood - along with Nevermore aka 'Morey' her mentor Raven and her ghost kitty friend Banshee- as well as 'Ashley of School for Vampires' and Thatch of 'Casper's Scare School' as a couple of wolves.
The deviation title and above poem is taken from a rather strange but interesting 80s werwolf movie 'The Company of Wolves'- which is an adult version of the tale of 'Red Riding Hood'. This movie was based on a short story of the same name by Angela Carter- who is best know for writing adult variations of famous fairytales as well as mature stories inspired by folk tales around the world.
We see 'Morey' looking worried- perhaps reciting the above poem as a bit of advice to MD. I've decided to make the vampires the wolves because 'Morey tends to worry most when MD is around vampires (an exception is Ashley, because he knows Ashley treats MD with respect and the fact she's known him for a long time now
As a note: it is a wonder why Vampires and werewolves are made mortal enemies in modern cinema- they're tales are pretty similar- especially when it comes to being 'beasts in the guise of men' during the seduction of their prey.
Another fun fact: Neil Jordan, who directed 'The Company of Wolves' directed 'Interview with the Vampire' (which was based on the book by Anne Rice) 10 years later.
enjoy

Company of wolves is one of my favorite werewolf movies - HammerΒ΄s Curse of the werewolf (1960) is probably THE favorite.

People seem to have somewhat forgotten that vampires DO take wolf forms as well as other animal forms besides bats

The story is a pretty mature and strange re-endition of Red Riding Hood, but symbolic. 'The Company of Wolves' is a tale of metaphore for puberty and the dangers of sexual predators (wolves) and accepting the fact that innocence eventually can't stay forever (growing up). The film is pretty different from the short story in the book, but Angela carter wrote both the screenplay for the movie and the short story.

You're welcome.
That does sound interesting and it does fit well with the story of Red Riding Hood.

^^
It was fitting. although it felt a bit Freudian at times, it was enjoyable (and hey, if we can handle the Dollhouse imagery in 'Madness Returns' why not this movie? )
