By all standards, Dhani was a fair and good king; he treated his subjects well, respected the circle of life, and was a good father and husband...Kinda. His dark not-so-secret and downfall was his paranoia concerning his death. His mjuzi foretold that the cub of his daughter will murder him and in his fear he came to the decision to not marry off any of his daughters but to keep them as his own brides instead. His logic being that every other tale of a king fortuned to be killed by his spawn was wrongfully thought killed or banished, hence, if he kept his children close and he treated them well they would not conspire against him and he can avoid his fate.

He groomed his daughters born by his wife to obey him and that their love should never faulter. When it came to their age of ascension to adulthood, he married them and sired more daughters off them. His anxiety was riding high as he watched them grow. They appeared to adore their father and wouldn't dare rise against him but still he fretted. Then, from an neighbouring kingdom came a two princes asking for the right to his daughters' paw, to ally themselves together. The words of his mjuzi echoed in his head and he vehemently refused. Unbeknownst to him one of the princesses grew to adore one of the princes and sought him out, yet she knew she could not leave her father's pride or her marriage to him. As much as she loved her father, she knew the disgusting nature of her future with him and would not accept it; she wanted to marry the charming prince that caught her eye.

Conspiring with this other kingdom, she convinced her sisters and grandmother to run away. No longer would they have to lay to their king and father. On the night of their escape he stirred awake and found his sides empty. Perhaps it was insanity or simply fate at work, Dhani chased after his family alone. One of his daughters was heavy with child and was lagging behind, so when Dhani began closing the distance, her sisters dispersed and appeared to abandon her. By this time he was no longer a spry and youthful lion; he panted and slowed as he approached her. Anger, fear, and paranoia clouded his decisions as he reached up to strike her when suddenly a body collided with his. His largest and healthiest daughter stood above him, tears streaking her cheeks as she placed a heavy paw on his throat. Crack. And the king was no more.
