THIS IS THE PRIME EXAMPLE OF A LOSE-LOSE SCENARIO
Say we sacrifice Dan. We lose him, and he never remembered us. We never met in the bathroom, we never bonded, and we let him die. That guilt is on us forever. But hey, we saved the town! But our heart is crushed for eternity
Say we sacrifice Arcadia Bay. We lose our home, and it's all our fault. We had the option to save hundreds of lives, and instead, we chose Dan. Not only do we live with the guilt for however long we live, but /Dan/ does. He may respect our choice, but in reality he'll live his life wondering just 'why was i worth the lives of so many people?' And again, we live with the guilt that we essentially commited genocide!
At MatPat stated in a video he made, I would still sacrifice Dan, because even if I love Dan as much as I do, his life isn't worth the many of others we'd lose- not in a bad way, as in so many people have so much to live for, and Dan was- theoretically, saying it followed the plot till this point- willing to give his life for the town.
