So i've been messing around with this for a while, finally got it to a somewhat presentable state. Just for shits and giggles really. i know there's already a femscout model but she's wearing a skirt which just doesn't work in my opinion, at least not for scout. Firstly with the silhouette and secondly, panty shot central, she's on a fricking battle field! No bare legs please! No disrespect to the creator though, its a great model! : )But i've been reading this book called 'Better game characters by design: A psycological approach' Which is really amazing and insightful about designing game characters that work and why they work. Especially designing respected characters. I personally think there is a HUGE market for females in the game industry, if only some of the games companies would get off their male asses and start developing female characters for females. And i'm particularly inspired by :devchemicalalias: work. So i thought id give it a go.
A few design notes:
On clothing, i wanted to keep it similar to the original Scout. For obvious reasons really. And also the last thing in my mind was how she looked sexually. When you're on the battlefield practicality and comfort are the key. That being said. it's hard to be creative with an outlook like that. I originally had her in an old cheerleaders top, but that messed with the silhouette a lot so i ripped the arms off, which made me happy. I don't know if that is clear though lol A fem scout strikes me as someone who would be paticulary feminist and not give a damn about what anyone thought. I deliberately tried to make her ordinary looking. Firstly because the normal scout is pretty ordinary looking, and secondly the character of a female scout would be one (in my opinion) of some one who didn't give a rats ass about appearance. As far as she's concerned she's the shit so why change anything? She has what's called a 'healthy self esteem' so she's not too fussed. She looks pretty guyish, but that goes back to her being quite ordinary. her hair is tucked into her cap by the way so that probably doesn't help :\ I made her hands supersized to fit with the game style, so that's intentional.That about it really. Just a fun exersize. if you have any thoughts please let me know!

Probably one of the best FemScouts I've seen. No gigantic boobs, no short tight pants,doesn't stick out, and she really keeps to the Scout style of 'I don't give a damn what chu think I'm still gonna bash ya head in!' Very well done!

yes. yes. YES. this is me agreeing with every single word in your description. I've wanted to start learning char design and try to get into that field for some time but what's holding me back is knowing I'll be the girl wanting female chars for females and end up feeling pretty alone with my views on how to go about it. this industry is just sloowly starting to prod the possibilities of designing for gals.
Personally I think I could imagine her in the exact same clothes as the male but hell variation pleases and this is an awesome concept. I adore that you can see she's in really good shape and not skinny with enormous curves.and the text on her history is hilarious. violent high five for you. <3

You know, I keep coming back to this. Really I think this is the best concept for a femscout I've seen. Atheltic, lanky, bad posture, and not girly. I really do dig this.

I like this design because it doesn't trip over itself trying to inject sex appeal into the scout concept like so many others have. A tough girl has an appeal of her own!
I hope eventually we'll see the option of female alternate characters like this in the TF2 gameplay.

I gotta say - I really like this one a lot. It's a very plausible design for the decade the game is set in, plus she really fits not only in the look of the game, but the attitude of the character. Well done!

This fem scout is great! ... It kinda look like something Valve would design.
I like how you kept her hair slightly hidden in her baseball cap as if she's trying to fool people that she's a guy.
And the posture! It looks very similar to the scout's so does her face and eyes. Which I think is great since that means that you've really caught several aspects of the original character.

Nice genderbend, really quality~! This is easily my favorite Fem!Scout! I love the look and the attitude, and her face is just feminine enough.

this is like, absolutely perfect. I only have a few comments on it.
1. I don't really understand whats going on with all those straps around her chest... I think it would be better to remove them. It would be cool to keep the lining on the shirt around her neck though.
2. Basically what danitiwa said, I think her boobs are a bit low (she would need a sports bra), and her face still looks too much like the male scout. I know she's supposed to be "ordinary" and a tomboy, but she still shouldn't look quite as much as the scout. Shortening the jaw would be a huge improvement.
Some things i especially like are her shoes and the high waist band.

The straps are mean to be stripes on her shirt, probably just my drawing that makes them look a bit odd lol
With the boob thing i was going on the idea that she would be strapping them down so they wouldn't be lifted but you both have a valid point. As well with the face part, it's hard to try and make her look as much like the scout but also like a girl, it'll come with practice i guess :S ha ha

This is a very nice concept, and looks like you put a lot of thought into it so kudos.
Now if I may toss you some concrit there are some things you might want to work on some more. My first issue is the face, It looks like you just slapped a wig on male scout. You might want to try making her face slightly more feminine by doing something like shortening her chin or softening her jaw... Because women have slightly different facial features that distinguish them as feminine, due to more estrogen.
On another note her boobs are slightly low, this wouldn't be going on were she wearing for example... A sports bra, which runners do, for comfort reasons. It's not nice having your breasts fly everywhere while you're running on a battlefield. You might want to lift them higher to stop her from looking like a granny, because I assume she's not past the age of say 25 if she's an exact genderswitch of malescout. Young women don't have such low hanging breasts usually. I doubt she would want her chest burning and hurting while she's trying to cap a point and shooting someone's head off. I don't know if they had sports bras in the mid 20th century, but she probably would tie her chest down with bandages or something.
But again it's all up to you, you don't have to heed any of what I said. I just hope it might help you improve this great concept.
I really like the layout of this and the fact that you didn't make her uguukawaiidesu with make-up and a skirt. It's very logically thought out, especially the waist pants. Keep doin' your thang.

I think i probably did go uber scout with the face, a few people have mentioned that :S ha ha
The idea with the boobs i totally get, being a woman with annoying things myself ha ha. My idea was that she'd tie them down as that would be the most secure way to keep them in check. They're probably a bit low though :S I was going to make them smaller but she looked really guyish. I'll see how it goes ha ha

I absolutely love this. It was great to see so much thought go behind the design of this fem!scout and I think it has paid off. This is my favourite concept at the moment - go Scoot go! Who needs frilly dresses and make up?!
