Description After v0.55 , v0.63 , and v0.81 I present v0.93 of the red-firewall wallpaper-series. My 1st entry to the Multi Monitor Mayhem Contest .

For this version I dumped the Japanese kanji of v0.81 again, added some more units, and made it more fiery in general. And a lot of smaaaall updates here and there that probably only I am noticing. Also finally highest quality jpg-compression, therefor twice the size. But you know, size does matter.

PS: Still compatible to my Winamp-skin .

PPS: I also got plans and dummies for a red firewall 2 series that basically will be a 3D-version of this. So stay tuned!

PPPS: And yes I know, I should've called this orange firewall in the first place...

PPPPS: Moved back into the Multidisplay wallpaper category so more people can find it.

The complete red firewall 1 WP series:
red firewall 1 v0.55 (dual).
red firewall 1 v0.63 (dual).
red firewall 1 v0.81 (dual).
green firewall 1 v0.8 (dual).
this one: red firewall 1 v0.93 - MMM edit (dual).
blue firewall 1 v0.94 (wide).

I love this wall sooooo much. Have you ever considered adding widgets for something like DesktopX?

I already sent you a note, but other people might be interested in that as well, so..

Yeah I tried it once, but I never got far and it was always eating too many ressources - CPU-power mainly (even with graphics-card-acceleration enabled), but that was at least 6 months ago, so I'm not up-to-date on the current DesktopX development. But on top of that, my current busy schedule (being abroad and having a job) prevents me from doing any artsy stuff anyways. But as soon as my life gets back to normal and I have a bit of time on my hands, I will look into it.

rotane In reply to Cerhiby [2006-03-22 17:00:38 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! All done in Photoshop, each circle one layer, creating circles with the marquee tool, setting glow effects and opacity, adding stuff, removing stuff... You could spend days with that

Cerhiby In reply to rotane [2006-03-23 02:15:10 +0000 UTC]

wow, i never knew you could do it photoshop cool, although its a lot of work XD

oh i thought you used masking and offset someting

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

rotane In reply to Cerhiby [2006-03-23 14:00:43 +0000 UTC]

Well, Photoshop or any vector-based program could do the trick too, nut not neccessarily any faster Plus it's a fun-work to do (to me, obviously)

And yeah, you can call that masking. Marquee-tool basically is a masking-tool

Well. It's my imagination of what a computer firewall could look like in the inside, in a sci-fi environment like Tron . Or maybe panels to control a firewall. Whatever. It just should look cool and Tron-ish

But yeah, I could stare at it for ages too

rotane In reply to HeatherD [2006-03-20 08:49:45 +0000 UTC]

Hmm, right, it does look similar! Good call
However, I got inspired mainly by the movie Tron and it's computer game sequel Tron 2.0 .

Tron! Tron rocks For a while we had that little car game on the computer and we all got obsessed with playing it against other people over the internet I didn't know there was a computer game though, I have to check that out.

rotane In reply to HeatherD [2006-03-21 09:49:10 +0000 UTC]

... but there ain't cars in Tron, only Lightcycles
The official game truly rocks thou, one of the best games (if not the best) of 2003

HeatherD In reply to rotane [2006-03-22 02:22:41 +0000 UTC]

Lightcycles then I'll have to talk my dad into buying the game for me, lol. It sounded like a clever setup from the link you gave me.

They are great... but you should make some at reg sizes also.

rotane In reply to DarkZephix [2006-03-19 22:38:30 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! Yeah, I'm working on those (singlescreen- as well as widescreen-versions). In the meantime, if you want, you can crop/scale the wallpaper to your personal needs.
