Description A personal piece of work , which I've spent way too much time on. I didn't really have a clear concept of what I want to do so I've been spending months playing around with it. Frankly, I'm just glad it's over.

C&C Welcome.

Okay, You've got me on this piece, if it's not a real photo does that mean that the furniture isn't either? I could build those just like that. The room is quite an eye catcher. But to tell me that it's not real, is very impressive.

Love the coffee table and the little light box with the japanese print art.
what sort of program did you use for this? cause i like how you've made the background blurry. or was that done seperately like on photoshop?

Rendered in 3dsmax, but yes, the DOF is in photoshop.

it also looks like you gave it a bit of a chromatic shift in photoshop to make it look more like a digital photograph....true or no?

Your lightning is amaising. Can you tell me a little more about it. How did you settup the lights?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

rotemlo In reply to DarkNemos [2008-08-21 20:13:50 +0000 UTC]

Just Vraylights in the windows. Also using Linear Workflow method (2.2 gamma).

DarkNemos In reply to rotemlo [2008-08-21 20:39:30 +0000 UTC]

But there are tons of diference between mine and your renders. I am also using vray lights of vray sun and 2.2 gamma. You can comment my work if you want...

rotemlo In reply to DarkNemos [2008-08-22 11:27:46 +0000 UTC]

I've looked at your renders and they're very good. The only difference I can see from mine lighting wise is that mine are heavily post-processed.

DarkNemos In reply to rotemlo [2008-08-22 11:34:55 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, your renders are awsome. Wonderfull realism touch. My renders lack depth and they are mostly washed out and kinda flat and yours have wonderfull depth. I am kinda lost in lightning settups and stuff so if you want, can you tell me in a few sentances do you settup render passes and what those are and what software do you use for compositing.

Cheers!

Thank you, but reading through your userpage I can assure you that I feel the same way about my works as you do about yours (Always thinking I'm getting worse instead of better, thinking my work is bad compared to others, always sure there is one magic button noone told me about that adds realism to a scene). I think it's a natural state of mind to have in this line of work.

I can also tell you that this is the 31st version of this room. I worked on it for 5 months simply because I was never happy with it, and to tell you the truth I still don't think it looks good.

About the never ending search for depth and realism, I don't think there is a quick and easy way to this. I know at least for me it never comes easy, and each project is a new battle. Try to continue working on it until you're happy, slowly analyzing what is missing and what is wrong.

But the bottom line is I think you are much better than you give yourself credit for.

DarkNemos In reply to rotemlo [2008-08-22 22:22:55 +0000 UTC]

Wow thanks for the comment.

Perhaps it is a natural state of mind but my renders are not at a level that it should be. I can probably make awsome render if i work on it for five monts, for a month perhaps. But this will be comertial work so the deadlines are counted in days. And thats imposible. I know a guy that makes fabulous renders quickly but he never talks about his work.

Ohhhh... well... back to the drawing board

I find I get much faster results from commercial projects, since I am much more aware of deadlines, take less freedom to "play around", and get constant feeback, so I guess it all depends on the project. I don't work in archviz anymore though
