yep, matrix is a elite octoling, (and he is a mimic octoling, not a dominant octoling)also in my headcanon and at the end of my fanfiction story the octarians and the inklings resolve their territorial feud and the octarians manage to make their own versions of turf war and ranked battles.
and matrix may be an elite, he doesn't really seem to like wearing his seaweed that much, he only seems to wear in in battle.
also he's pretty good at chargers "snipers", and being a mimic octoling, he stealth skills are superior.

in in splatoon's case, the Blaster class weapons counter snipers well.
man i'd hate to verse matrix in a 1 on 1 battle, he'd probably snipe, and vanish and once you know his location, he's already gone. and already mimicking something else, or worse on 2v2 or 4v4 where a he could mimic one of your allies but once you realize he's not on your team it would already be too late...
mimics are sneaky, at least he dosen't brag...much at least....
