now about the octoling subspecies

the octarian forces
 - "also so in my headcanon i like to believe most of the octarian forces were created.
octolings are the main octarians, however, dj octavio needed some more minions of his own, so he uses trimming of octoling head tentacles, and brought them to a lab to be grown into the desired octarian needed to fill a specific role. as the tentacle tries to grow into another octoling, but fails to grow perfectly so that explains their strange little legs that don't really seem to fit them all that well..."

dominant octoling race : (arose from the giant pacific octopus line)
species name: Octopoda Cephalo Sapien E. dofleini

other races of octolings

blue ring octoling:
sub species name: Octopoda Cephalo Sapien Hapalochlaena
other info: blue rings octolings are naturally tiny, and none will grow beyond 3 feet, their standard colors seem like a normal octolings with a faint trace of rings, when provoked those rings turn blue and the head tentacles turn yellow. they also have extremely potent venom that is able to kill in seconds, and despite lacking an ink sac which means they cannot super jump, they have the ability to jump 6 feet in the air with no problems, they also have extremely long oral plate protrusions "fangs" most are aggressive and seems to have flash temper. oh yeah, also blue rings also lay two smaller eggs instead of just a large one. they carry the eggs around in their head tentacles for protection until the hatch, this brooding behavior has only been seen in the blue ring.

mimic octoling:
sub species name: Octopoda Cephalo Sapien T. mimicus
other info: mimic octolings are hard to spot in octoling society because they seem to blend with the others so well,  though in normal coloration, most their head tentacles are usually very dark colored with a lighter bands of that same color at the base of the tentacle, mimic octolings usually have very long head tentacles compared to other octolings, mimic octolings can shapeshift their tentacles into many bizarre shapes and colors, they like to mimic others for fun.

Cool, but Octolings have rounded ears that are hidden under their tentacles.  This represents how Octopi have round heads.  The pointed ears of an Inkling represent a squid's mantle.

Yeah, I admire that.

I'm gonna keep my distance from the Blue Ring Octolings, though. Little creatures like them scare me.
