Newest character of 2015. Another quick reference sheet so that friends and other peeps can draw this fellow. I don't know much about him as he's literally only a few days old, but hey I can ramble about selchies in general as well at least maybe?

- Sven is really cute and adorable obviously, first of all. But he is, at his core, a demonic entity so that's a bit sad. Demons are also faeries though, so Sven is a faerie and a demon at the same time. Double whammy.

- All selchies are capable of water based witchcraft. Though these powers do not amount to creating hurricanes and gale storms, they are perfectly capable of other sorts of feats. A selchie could tip over a small boat using a wave, or get an unsuspecting bystander standing on some rocks soaking wet. They can influence sea dwelling and water based life to do certain things too. Ever been chased by shit ton of crabs? That's probably because you haven't ever annoyed a selchie. Selchies can also grant humans the ability to hold their breath for long periods of time, freeze water, and evaporate it. Older selchies are more skilled and powerful than younger ones in this respect.

- Most interestingly of all, selchies are capable of transforming humanoids into seals. Repeated transformations and extended time as a seal (think somewhere around over 1 year) will transform the person into a selchie as well. This power is something that is most often practiced when a selchie marries a human and wants to take them to the sea with them. Selchies are careful about who they decide to make selchies like themselves.

- A human that becomes a selchie will generally join their selchie spouse's pod. This can be anywhere from 8-20 individuals, usually related or married to one another. Selchie pods are cute.

- Sven likes fish a lot and also shells and also long walks on the beach and also probably seals.

- Selchie skins are magical in nature and very important to them. It is their seal skins that allow them to assume seal shape, cast their magic spells, and live for extended periods of time. Stealing a selchie skin means that a selchie will often do whatever you ask of them. Sailors have been known to steal female selchie skins in order to get them to marry them. A selchie without their skin will age like any other person and be unable to utilize witchcraft. Extended separation from their skin will cause a selchie to lose their fae-like traits (pointed ears, webbed hands, black eyes etc) and generally begin to appear more human. At the first opportunity to return to the sea and their faerie life, selchie spouses held captive will take their skins and leap into the sea.

- Selchie skins are so important to them selchies have been known to leap into the fire with their skins and burn alive if someone attempts to destroy their skin in this way. On the flip side, in an attempt to assimilate more easily into human life, selchies will hide their skins away or bury them to make it harder for themselves to retrieve them and return to their lives as seals.

- A selchie that has died can be skinned to obtain their magical skins. The wearers of selchie skins will quickly become a selchie themselves if the original owner of the skin is alive or dead, however.

- Selchies have no problem with polyamory. A selchie will often times have a selchie spouse while having one or several human spouses and lovers as well.
