Seems like the two have simularities.
But the difference is this:
1. Carrie takes out her revenge on her fellow students at Prom after the pigs blood has been spilled on her.
2. Alessa takes out her revenge on everyone at silent hill by punishing them like they did to her, making them all suffer the darkness.

Not a surprise, giving the fact that Alessa was based on Carrie.
