Description i never thought i'd have the attention span to sit down and do one of these but i figured.... i'm in such a slump and Bored As Hell But Nothing Sounds Appealing and i saw one of these in my feed so i! thought i'd do it. this is a really weird combo of things but i was struggling to find things that influenced JUST my art style (as i felt kind of weird using specific artists, especially online artists) so i kind of..... branched out a bit more. i figured i'd detail this stuff below haha

pokemon: THE biggest one..... y'all i'm surprised i didn't make half of the map pokemon. pokemon was my first big 'obsession' and one of the only ones that has persisted over the course of YEARS and YEARS...... pokemon has been such a huge part of my life and it's one of the main things i drew as a kid. i have so many damn memories of copying the pokemon art out of my old game guides to draw pokemon and i still have all of that horrid art somewhere.... pokemon, anyway, is what really started off my video game/art/cartoon kick so it's. fitting it gets such a large slot on here.

animal crossing: a personal fav.... especially recently! same thing as pokemon (maybe not to the same extent, but), i've been playing it for YEARS (since wild world) and i love it so much. lovable characters, different character face styles, unique personality styles.... pretty much everything i *want* to achieve in my art and character designs.

kyoukai no kanata/kyoani: i've always ADORED kyoani's art style.... kyoukai no kanata is also my top favorite anime so it works. if i ever drew anime it would be in this style.... on top of that i adore knk's plot and characters, and the sort of supernatural elements have inspired parts of my own stories

gravity falls: the amount of detail that went into gravity falls (not to mention the whole conspiracy theme) still amazes me.... all of the hidden details/foreshadowing and stuff i just. love it. the art style is super cute and cartoony too but the plot and details kinda won me over the most

kill la kill/trigger: another anime and anime style i adore... also love the fun character designs! not much to say here, kind of the same as knk.

she-ra and the princesses of power: what can i say, my MOST RECENT obsession.... i adore (adora!!) this show. i never saw the original nor had any interest to but the SECOND i saw the promo images for this show alongside the fact it was being made by noelle stevenson(!!) i knew it was gonna be GOOD. i love this show, the characters, the writing, the character's relationships, allegories, and the plot (so far!). i really can't talk highly enough of this show because it's so good with its absolutely precious diverse cast of characters... also i'm always down for the best cartoon lesbians and let me tell u this show has the best cartoon lesbians.
also something i haven't shared publicly here is that i have a *lot* of character stories and my most recent one uses she-ra as a main inspiration hahaa. like if i ever wrote something of this story... i'd want it to be along the lines of she-ra.

how to train your dragon: same thing as that last bit on she-ra... httyd inspired that too! but also httyd has been one of my favorite series for a long, long time. i mean what can i say; its got dragons, surprisingly lovable but quirky characters, a het couple that i actually LIKE (and makes the romance subplot just that, a subplot, that doesn't overwhelm the story and they don't throw in unnecessary shit like love triangles...), and toothless!! i love that dragon.

big hero 6: hands down my FAVORITE disney movie. i'm.... noticing a trend here to my favorite series (diverse quirky casts, big lovable mascot...) so at the risk of not repeating myself.... the plot of big hero 6 is so! good! if any disney movie deserves a sequel it is this movie. The Best Movie. the best example of the mc 'coming around' to like the big lovable mascot. the best bonding over the course of the movie. the cutest ending!!!

chocobo's dungeon: another one i love the plot of.... absolutely precious characters (raffaello, chocobo...) and a KILLER aesthetic! i love the aesthetic of lostime and the general aesthetic of the game, the rustic colors and classic tune to the music and everything. overall something that definitely inspired some of my favorite aesthetics.

noelle stevenson: i know i said i was trying to avoid putting artists on here but... this also ties back to she-ra because she's the ep for that show! honestly found her through tumblr shortly after i joined that site (like.... 2011? 2010?) and have been following her ever since so her art's always been a big fav and general inspiration style.

star vs the forces of evil: i just always loved the art style of this show.... again, quirky characters... fun plot line too!

the dragon prince: this one kinda came out of nowhere... but is another one that kind of inspires me to make stories lol! i didn't think i'd like it that much based on the animation style but i'm glad i gave it a chance. fun characters and plot that is surprisingly not that predictable. the show has also managed to make me care about all of the characters so it's got GOOD writing...

avatar the last airbender: that show that nobody ever shuts up about!! one of my favorite shows in my childhood, inspired a lot of ocs back in the day.... i think it inspired me to roleplay too (lmao)..... always adored that mix of anime/western art style. i remember dying in wait for the final last few episodes of this too hahaa

miraculous ladybug: i'm still full of SO MUCH SALT that they never went through with this in the classic anime style as the teaser but... y'know, the animated version we have now really isn't that bad. i like it! same thing as the dragon prince, i was kind of skeptical about it but season 2 has really caught my attention and i love it. (also, i can't say no to any kids animated series with good lgbt rep so, yknow)

neopets: NEOPETS.... oh neopets where would i be without you. probably not here cuz my virtual pet phase never would have happened!!! (who am i kidding it's not a phase. it's a lifestyle) i was always obsessed with neopets as a kid and it really kicked off my obsession with pet sites, which ultimately led to me being here and really getting into digital art and stuff. god, i still have some of my oldest neopet accounts and i just kind of can't get over it haha. it's been literally over a decade but i still love that stupid hellsite and all of my pets.

my little pony: alright HEAR ME OUT.... i'm not into mlp and haven't been for years, but i really can't deny that it wasn't a huge influence on my art style. i drew mlp for years, it was my 'main fandom' for the longest time. i've long since abandoned most of the art style that was influenced by this show (with the exception of how i draw eyes ffs) but i can't deny it had a huge part in my art development.... also i was really into the show haha and i made like a thousand mlp ocs.

the world ends with you: another niche thing (if my entire list wasn't an example of niche things mixed with mainstream things), and another one that largely inspired me to work on my own stories and such haha. also some personal junk mixed in there so i'll just leave it at -- again, quirky lovable characters and a really neat art style

studio mir (not vld lol): OHHH WHAT DO I HAVE TO SAY HERE.... honestly vld might have made it onto the list but with the blatant disrespect, queerbaiting, and general pettiness surrounding that show i would rather not say it has a place on the influence map! so i give that slot to studio mir whose art style is to DIE FOR.... (one of three redeemable qualities about vld) if you haven't seen the short animation 'koji' by them you should!
i would also hate to say that vld has inspired *anything* from me but that would also not be true... i was so into vld for like, two years (the majority of its run) (lmao especially klance) but also towards the end of its run vld inspired me to make content that is what i want it to be, because i've come to the realization i'll probably never (or rarely) see it. that show constantly disappointed in soo many aspects (queerbaiting, racist stereotypes.... i'm not even gonna get into this now) so like,, largely this show inspired me to make stories but served more as a cautionary tale than anything else.

wall-e: wall-e!! another big fav from disney.... probably my favorite pixar movie. i love the themes in this movie and the fact that they have an entire movie revolving around a little lonely robot that can't really talk and that develops a personality and wants to save earth is ADORABLE!!! (get another one that inspired me to write... hm.....) i mean my environmentalist self is super biased here but also? wall-e is just all-around adorable

spirited away/ghibli: another staple in these influence maps... i mean most people (milennials) grew up with ghibli (especially being one of the only pieces of japanese media that they saw as kids) so it always has a sort of nostalgic ring to it. spirited away has always been one of my favorite movies (though scared the hell out of me as a little kid lol) and really sort of inspired younger me. other ghibli stuff is rEALLY good too, especially ponyo.....
