Description
I did start this as a premade background and was really liking it, so I just kept going till it became... this.Besides, it had been a while since I had any dragons in my artworks, even if they are small. (Edit: why did I even write that? lol, I just made one *_*)
Got one of those big ideas for the next Exodus image but it needs a lot of preparation, picture taking, and digital sculpting, hopefully it will be done before Christmas lol.
Really trying to focus on light and colors lately in the latter stages, I like how natural some matte paintings look and thought mine always look way too over the top, so trying for a more... moderate approach.
Some music to accompany, really fitting the theme, as old as it is... www.youtube.com/watch?v=m267uI…

Muchas gracias Jose, seguro que yo le encuentro pegas... digo seguro aunque ya se las he encontrado jajaj. xD
Éste la verdad que fué rapidito en comparación (15-16 horas), esto de hacer premades me sirve como pràctica que no veas.

Lol no worries
Its perfect loved the walkthrough too I think the choice to delete bridges and leave little synusoidal paths is amazing, more harmonious, bridges was kinda caging it...
I must face a landscape soon or later just dunno what kind.. mmm
Excellent job

Thank you so much Fran!
Yep I agree about the bridges, thanks for bringing that up too. I felt like they did mess with the composition lines, maybe that's why it felt cagey with them, glad I figured that out before the end (with some help heehee).

Mmm I'll see. I would need practice... im used to my region landscapes which are mostly flat monotone fields or the sea. No mountains. And i need to study what exactly happens to light and colors on the horizont line. Seems like theres the curve where earth and sky are melted... i know haze exists in depth but im curious bout far depths...
Anyway, thanks for the link gonna check it

Rowye In reply to FrancescaPoliti [2016-08-28 10:49:48 +0000 UTC]
Hehee you take it really seriously, I like.
In my experience the haze's color depends mainly on the sky's base color at that moment. For manips I find the easiest way to fix far elements is to just pick a color from the sky and paint with it on the element (on a new layer), then adjust the opacity as needed. Still might need more work but it's a great start...

Oh yeah thanks for tips
I am travelling right now and taking pics with my canon its a good way to study this kind of stuff in reality. You see, sometimes I'some scapes in mind I'd like to express, most of them with crazy perspectives... i just need practice i think
Thanks again

Hehehe so that's it, you don't conform with a landscape, it has to be a specific advanced kind of scene...
Me likes, more.

FrancescaPoliti In reply to Rowye [2016-09-03 19:43:49 +0000 UTC]
nope, not advanced... it's just my sick mind.
Ever happened that while blending 2 parts of 2 different landscapes you see a kind of icing in the atmosphere?
I'm still at that level

Hahah not really sure what you mean but... I've had a lot of bad shit happen. xD
Can't say much but I'm sure when you really want to get further you will end up doing it, nothing that practice can't do and you got it quite right on your last manip anyway.

FrancescaPoliti In reply to Rowye [2016-09-09 15:51:56 +0000 UTC]
Eh I'm getting more and more the habit of sketching before all.
Just now I was here sitting and drawing to give a shape to an idea I have since ages and seems that contest you linked me could fit it.
But yeh I'd need more practice.
Mm last manip, you mean Curses? Or The Dreamer?
Oh I forgot to mention another thing I love in this manip of yours: shadows!

Rowye In reply to FrancescaPoliti [2016-09-12 17:37:52 +0000 UTC]
Oh right, I meant Curses, it wasn't the last one.
Heehee I sketch sometimes, some others I just go from stock. Always place everything before I fix it though, so I guess that's kind of sketching too. ^.^'

Thank you so much Erik, really means a lot to hear that from you.
I guess I just keep looking at concept artists and matte painters... picking up what I can. Your blues kinda helped too, trying to get the natural colors in.
Hahah funny about the models too, I wasn't sure how to go about it. I think she's... still a woman in my image, or in-between. Like, challenging the binary code here... in a fantasy manip lol.

yass finally, I was waiting to see this for a few days I will never understand how you people can make shadows look so good on an artwork
I love it looks exactly like a scene from a movie I'd like to watch

Thank you so much Gabi!!
Been practicing lighting a lot (using the premades for that)... and I find that sometimes it's easier to shade the whole image, then paint the light back in. Anyway... at least that's my stance now, hopefully will keep learning about it.
What is wrong with poor dragons on film now? xD
