Description Thespiria

*ahem* yeah I got stuck with the little storyline I was doing and then got distracted with other things and got away for a while and now I've forgotten what I was doing

the most current version of Thespiria has Heaven at the north pole and Hell at the south pole with Purgatory being the land of mortals on all the continents in between, with ideas that the north pole/Heaven always faces the sun so it's never night there while at the bottom of the world in Hell it is always dark. but that would mean that there is no night or day for Purgatory which was supposed to be the "normal world" more or less. but in MY opinion, I really think Heaven should be a city in the sky instead of just on top of a mountain (though it being "on top of the world" was kinda cool lol) and there was also the issue of the north pole on earth is all frozen but if that's the part that's constantly toward the sun then it's going to be a desert instead, right?

personally, I had the most fun with our RPs that threw logic to the wind, where they were assumed to take place in a dream that someone was having while in a coma or something, or in the afterlife/spirit world, so nothing had to make any sense and you could do really bizarre crazy fun stuff. but not everybody agrees so we're trying to find a compromise. anyway, I propose that the planet should be made of disconnected floating continents that can layer over each other. hell would be that the core at the very center so of course it's always in shadow from all the other stuff floating over it. Heaven would be the very highest so it would always be in the light and it's what you would see when looking at the planet from afar. I have an idea that from Heaven, when you go to the edge of your continent or island and look down into the ether mist stuff or gases or whatever, it's all blue and pretty  reminiscent of being on a shore on earth and looking down into the water. the closer to get down toward hell, the more the blue turns to aquamarine and blue-green and then eventually it takes on an eerie underworld green ghostly glow, and lower than that you get close enough to look down and see Hell itself below.

now I know what you're thinking, "But Roxafox, where would the ocean be?" well the whole point of this (at the moment) is to participate in horse art RPGs and we need a place for our characters/horses to live, and you can't do anything with horses in the ocean. maybe if we were actually using the ocean for anything then there would be a reason to set up the planet differently but if you MUST have an ocean then it's just another one of the floating continents, like a big bowl of water made of rock. then you can put little islands inside that and whatever if you want. with this set up, each floating land mass can have its own separate weather and climate and environment without worrying about where it is located on the planet. here's an ocean continent, here's a desert continent, this one is rain forest, that one is mountains, this one is grassy hills and plains, etc etc. you could also have this species lives on this continent and that one lives on that one, etc. everything can stay independent and separated without having to actually be any certain distance away, like stuff on earth being at the equator vs the poles and a desert can't be next to an ocean/lake/etc/whatever.

with this setup, Heaven could be a kingdom in the sky (from the point of view of those in Purgatory/land of the mortals) and have clouds all around it and such. how do clouds work if the entire system of rainfall and weather and stuff is all mixed up like this? don't ask, that's how it works.

Heaven is meant to be Sora's domain, Hell is for Riku and Purgatory is mine, but since Sora started the project first with stuff he was doing mostly by himself with just some ideas added from us, we have a situation where all of the characters are all living near to each other as neighbors, which means they're all in Heaven, which means the other areas of the world are kinda just being abandoned and pointless right now. I think everything needs to be much, much much much bigger, like unimaginably huge, colossal, freaking Dominion of the Gods, dude, HUGE. and therefore would require the magic gates we made in order to get from here to there in less than a hundred years. if they're teleporting anyway then it literally doesn't matter how close or far anything is. they could be "neighbors" just because in each different place they all live close to a gate. I could have separate HARPG stable locations be on separate independent continents where i can map out the whole thing edge to edge however I want and it won't interfere with anything anybody else wants to do. though I've already done a map ( www.deviantart.com/roxafox/art… ) where all of the places are located literally near each other in the same land... but if they all had their own separate island of sorts then there would never be an issue of "I have too many horses, i need more space" but you can't add any more room because there's already stuff on the map next to you. we'd like to build towns and cities and of course those buildings need to be close to each other, but horses can't live in towns and cities. they have to be on farms with lots of space which has to be way out of town/outside the cities. it just doesn't make any form of sense to try and do both things at the same time, they just have to be spread out far away from each other.

the game Allods has something similar to this so having played that makes it easier to visualize the floating continent idea. there was interesting and epic stuff there but I'd like to have waterfalls pouring from one floating island down into the other and bridges connecting them and things like that, which I don't think was part of the game. I did like their steampunk airships that traveled between the lands. but nobody wants to think too much about that game because that's where the incident occurred that is the reason none of us use Discord. it's been some years now and Sora is only just now getting to a point where just seeing the NAME no long triggers PTSD attacks. the details don't matter since you can just say "well I don't think that's worth being upset about" because you're not the one it happened to, but because the situation specifically involved getting singled out and excluded then getting made fun of for being the only one without Discord with no consideration whatsoever for the various reasons one might not have it or not want to use it, from hearing problems to speaking problems to anxiety to technical/computer problems to not having permission from parents or the owner of the computer to simply not speaking english very well and all other reasons besides just those silly trans people and their silly problems that nobody takes seriously, and including not using it because of having a horrible traumatic experience with it that you don't want to be reminded of and relive all over again in your head, any group on dA or any other site with a "Discord required" stipulation can kiss my ass on principle alone. adding "well you don't have to use the voice chat" is irrelevant, it is still the same situation in the end, forcing people to use some other website other than the one we're all currently on under the threat of social rejection, in other words, unfair psychological punishment.

it's not easy to "just remember the good things" about the game but they certainly don't own the copyright on floating islands so there's plenty of other places to get inspiration, and since it's been a while since anybody played it that makes it easier to do something unique since you don't remember too much and have to make up your own ideas. one thing I don't have a clear answer for is why the land masses float, other than just "the gods made it that way" with the gods literally being us as we literally create the world for our project, but one thing is I don't want any implications that it was destroyed or shattered, I want it to be deliberately intended to be that way with all the floating pieces in harmony with each other. we've had some talk about there not actually being any sun present and the light comes from the nebula, in which case they're couldn't be a normal night/day, but in this situation there can be constantly light in heaven which blocks light from the lands below, but they all shift and move at different speeds so as heaven floats over the lower lands, the shadow blocking the light moves in a similar fashion to day/night. then you can have eternal day/light in Heaven and eternal night/darkness in Hell and normal day/night in the lands of mortals in between. and if Sora wants some parts to heaven to still have a day/night then there can just be multiple layers up there also and the higher layers shadow the lower layers. maybe the completely unshadowed parts are sacred or something whatever, do whatever you want with that. Purgatory is supposed to be my realm so I'd like to move my characters there and do some of my own stuff since it's no longer specifically just Sora's personal project. maybe we should just make up our own separate planets lol
