Alastor is hard-of-hearing so one of the things Nicotine is trained to do is move him away from vehicles/walking behind horses/falling off a cliff/whatever. He was shown doing this more realistically in his EquiBreak Training (link ) but that wasn't as much fun to draw as him carrying Alastor off by his hair-twing lol. Alastor remaining entirely oblivious after being removed from danger is canon though, he has a slow thought process because of his brain injury and usually doesn't take time to figure out what happened and just goes on with his day. That was how he originally met Daetorious and Celestian in Sora's Storyline, Nicotine threw a shoe and spooked Celestian's horse and she reared up and fell on him, and Alastor just kept going lol (link )
