Description Taken from Offutt AFB Control Tower (outside walkway) on 03 April 1990.

Pentax K1000, 80-200 zoom, no I do not remember what film I used

First pass touch and go before this bird's final landing to join the SAC Museum.

Awesome! The soldiers/pilots in the background really help put that plane into scale. I never knew it was that big. Wow.

Thanks, I've always liked that shot... Mostly luck, plus some preparation... A buddy of mine was good friends with the guys in the control tower on base (he was a pilot and flew out of there frequently in their little civil-aviation planes), and when we heard they were going to be flying in the SR-71 for the museum he managed to get three of us up into the tower overlooking the runway. I was out on the external catwalk with my camera, and was able to capture these views as she came down and did a touch-n-go pass, then with the drogue chute deployed on a proud ol' bird's final landing...

It was an unforgettable sight, even thru a viewfinder That was back in March of 1990...
