Description
* went out on a little walk with some of my family today, and there's a small farm nearby with many birds etc. They own quite a few peacocks... and they have such beautiful colours...* But anyway, this is sorta my first time photographing animals that arn't my own... you gotta be quick!! ^_~
* full view for all those gorgeous details!

This would make a great postcard for like a zoo or something We actually have peacocks roaming wild in my parents neighborhood. They just fly around, scream like a woman yelling for 'help', and poop on things. And they are hideously stupid. Oh well

Awwww wow that is so beautiful!! I love the colors, lighting, details and composition. But I feel that the green grass is distracting from the pic because it sort of blends in with the color of the feathers?? Maybe if the grass was black it would be better?

Great shot! I have a peacock pic (which I never submitted), but it doesn't come anywhere close to this!

I just might. But it's a traditional shot, and I'm still trying to sneak in some scanner time at work...

hey this is one of the shots i definitely want to take one day!
one tip. submit another version cropped much more tightly (from bottom chest upwards - not to wide either) then your composition will be superb.

A nice capture. Did you think about cropping this image differently? There are three items that draw my attention, obviously the body of the peacock, but more subtle are the little flowers in the front center and the bright green foilage in the upper right. I might have removed most of the left of the photo, bringing the bird's body to the left of the image. Then removed enough of the bottom of the photo to remove those flowers (or used a patch tool to remove them). Your focus would be first on the peacock, then your eyes would follow the feathers up to the right with the brighter green patch. Anyway, just an idea. It is a nice image as it is.

WOW That is beautiful! It really doesn't look real! It's so perfect you'd think that a computer made it. Weird and yet cool how nature is still more amazing in reality than we could ever make in a computer.
Thanks for sharing! I gotta
!

Oh yeah, the colors are so vibrant! If you didn't enhance the colors at all then it is definatley a great shot! You are quite lucky... If it was my photo I'd make it my desktop wallpaper I'd be so proud.

When I was in Europe -- Poland, specifically -- I remember having a blast sort of chasing these things around the farm .. and once in a while I'd collect their feathers .. but, heh, I wasn't supposed to take them back on the plane w/ me because they supposedly brought some kind of bad luck. Like the plane was supposed to crash or something.
But I didn't believe it .. and we all made it back just fine.
As for the shot itself, you caught it quite well. Almost hypnotizing.

Oh my gosh, how funny, I live in Los Angeles and we have Peacocks that run wild throughout our neighborhood and have been doing so for many years now! It's not at all uncommon for me to look out my window and see a huge peacock looking back at me, ha. Those things can be a nuisance though, and they're pretty stupid. Like, the neighbor down the street got a new truck with a shiny chrome bumper, and a peacock saw himself in the bumber and started pecking at his own reflection, he did this for several weeks. Another time, my little brother was trying to chase one away from the yard and as the peacock turned to run it saw a little hole in the fence about the size of a baseball, so it figured it could probably fit through that apparently, cause it stuck its head all the way through and got stuck I've captured more than a few baby chicks myself, and we go release them a few miles away cause they can be a nuisance. And then there's the screaming they do, they actually sound like a woman yelling for "help", they go "Help! Help!" just like that! Then there's the ones that get in fights with cats and dogs or something and lose a foot, like the one we call 'Peg-Leg'. Then there's 'Club-foot' who has a permanently fisted foot that can't unclench for some reason. He's a scrapper though, a tough guy. So uh, yeah
