Description Proboscis Monkey (Nasalis Larvatus) - Apenheul (The Netherlands)

They are newcomers at Apenheul Zoo and it was really crowded when I visited them.

It was hard to get a decent shot in because a) there wasn't much light for my 5.6 to work with, b) all the good spots were taken and c) the enclosure of the animals is really big and the monkeys are far away from the people (which, for the monkeys, is a good thing).

The funniest thing is; this Proboscis Monkey wasn't even the weirdest looking creature at Apenheul that day

It was so strange to see this wonderful creature in real life.

He makes quite the impression.


And like I said in the comment, he sure wasn't the weirdest looking creature in the park that day.

I laughed out loud for real at that last bit! I do agree fully, "people" are the weirdest creatures ever to walk among us. I'd rather spend my time with the animals any day. lolz

He isn't a real beauty and I think that big nose is a little bit obstructive. But the females do love him. They use to choose the one with the biggest nose
