I meant before the show man, he was just a dude who had arrows for anything similiar to Batman.

Except that wheras Bruce is motivated by grief and anger, Oliver is motivated by guilt and boredom. Bruce trained everywhere he could with anyone he could find, while Oliver was stuck on one island teaching himself. Batman is a symbol of fear, while Green Arrow is much more casual about how his identity is viewed. Batman takes his job so seriously it causes him psychological problems, while Green Arrow tends to be relaxed and lighthearted while fighting. Batman focuses on street crime and gangsters, while Green Arrow targets the high-end businessmen and politicians who finance the lower factions of crime. Batman has a small stock of practical tools supplemented by a cave full of backup weapons, while Green Arrow prefers a stable arsenal of exotic weapons. Batman generally ignores his wealth when it isn't paying for his gear, while Oliver enjoys being a playboy while also feeling a lot of guilt over it. Batman likes to impress people with his large vehicles, while Green Arrow only uses them when he has to. Batman is always on the cutting edge of technology, while Green Arrow mostly prefers old school equipment. Batman often has to learn to let his children make their own decisions, while Green Arrow often needs to be more attentive to his kids. Batman is an introvert who talks in short clipped sentences, while Green Arrow loves to talk loudly and at length. Batman is a creature of the city and the night, while Green Arrow has always had an edge of the forests and the jungle to him, with no concern to what time of day it is.

In short, Green Arrow may have been a Batman expy back in the day, but for the past 45 years, he's proudly been his own character. That's why he's managed to stay in action longer than 90% of other superheroes. If we're going to say that he's just another Batman, we'd better be prepared to say that about every other rich, nonpowered hero, which is really its own subgenre by this point. It's only in the TV show-where he becomes angrier, more controlling, more shadowy, more violent, more tense, more toned-down, and loses his social consciousness so that he can fight Batman's villains-that he starts to lose his own identity.

I'm not hating on Green Arrow, I just think Batman is better, besides he has a limited supply of arrows while Batman is ready incase he runs out. I mean Green Arrow has some interesting enemies but Batman's are symbols also of the human psychology. I mean if they were real there would be books of these guys that'd fly off the shelves at book stores.

I think when you imply that one character is just a slightly different version of another character, that is indeed "hating on."

Oh, well I like Green Arrow I mean he'd a key member in the JLA. Plus how he can still use a bow and arrow with one arm is impressive.

huh.  I don't know that I'm enough of a fan of the show to have leaned this hard into it.

I took some cues from it, like Thea, the League, and his marriage to Nyssa... but the lion mauling, the shipwreck, the island, and such are all from the comics.
The Lazarus Pit and the League recruiting him young are Earth-27 exclusive.
Ollie's personality is also much more comics-based than Arrow.

Giving him a reason for being called "the Green Arrow" (a fusion of the two names the League gave him)

And then, what did you think of the uniform Donna? Have you thought about making a similar way? Not now, maybe in the future?

I am in the process of considering the looks of various characters, Donna included.

Well, this is a darker and more interesting take on the Green Arrow...though Nyssa chose Oliver? She was vehemently against marrying him in the show, having her choose him willingly makes her a bit too much like Talia, don't you think?

Wait until you see Nyssa before you assume such things...

Yes, must see Ms. Raatko. Wonder if she will look more like Katrina Law or be short haired like in Arkham Knight

Roysovitch In reply to AzureVirgo [2016-03-30 00:29:07 +0000 UTC]

I can tell you that she is a very fusion friendly character... Lots of contributing sources... Video game, TV, and... animated?
But wait, when was Nyssa ever animated?
Dun dun DUN!

Hmmm, very interesting. Didn't think that Bruce and Ollie would only be year apart. Thought him and Dinah would be the same age.

Was the part of Ollie's parents being mailed by a lion made up? So the island isolation is after League training

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Roysovitch In reply to AzureVirgo [2016-03-30 00:02:08 +0000 UTC]

Bruce and Ollie are only months apart... but Ollie's young at heart.
The lion mauling is actually from the comics, though I added the gun jamming and the lion attack on Thea to the tale.
Oliver's island isolation is his cover story for where he was when he was with the League... more on that later.

Nova20X In reply to ??? [2016-03-29 22:01:20 +0000 UTC]

Injustice reference, definetly the Quiver is a best name than Arrow-Cave (and clearly Oliver Queen can't think of any creative nor original name for his stuff)

Steelpoodle In reply to Nova20X [2016-03-29 23:46:14 +0000 UTC]

Well it can be argued that Green Arrow is just Batman Lite.

You could, but you'd be wrong.

Steelpoodle In reply to nightcrawlerfan19 [2016-03-30 03:43:42 +0000 UTC]

If Green Arrow has bad writers, than he is Batman Lite. If he has good writers, he is his own character.

Roysovitch In reply to Steelpoodle [2016-04-07 04:09:08 +0000 UTC]

I tried to honor him as his own character, but also as Batman-Lite by giving them similar origins, where Oliver was kind of meant to be a second Bruce Wayne and lived in his shadow, but was never really the same person so eventually he decided to stop trying to be Bruce Wayne/Batman and start doing things his own way.

Well well well, this is a much darker take on the arrow story and I must say I like it! Got Arrow, Injustice and your own brilliant twist. The assassins got their hooks into this one much quicker...and I am impressed but then that's hardly a surprise now is it Roy?

The Quiver is so much better name than the Arrow-cave. Glad to see some Arrow influence in the bio.
