I just imagine the Mystery Gang obsessing over this guy. Like, to the point where they'd actively try to get Shaggy to summon him just to get the slightest hint of his true background.
Also I'm glad that he still retains a firm element of mystery to his origins, as while I like the Adam origin for him quite a lot it would be kinda weird to take a guy whose literally got Stranger in his name & have everything about his background spelt out for us, with no ambiguity or mystery to it at all...though based on how he was handled in the New 52, it seems that DC themselves have forgotten that.

WOuldn't be the first time the New 52 missed the point of something: They turned Lobo into a carbon copy of the very heroes he was meant to be a parody of.

True, though in that case I somewhat understand the mindset of it; the "edgy 90s anti-hero" thing was done, making Lobo look like a bit of a relic, while this new "sexy bad-boy" trend was making rounds thanks to things like Twilight, so it probably made sense to DC editorial to play around with that idea with Nu-Lobo.
Now don't get me wrong, it was terribly executed and the classic Lobo, while flawed in some aspects, is still much, much better; I'm mostly just playing Devil's Advocate here.
