Description Hippolyta joins Earth-27.

I could have easily written much more about her. I guess it's time for another E27 Journal Entry to showcase the cutting room floor of the many, many, many things that did not make the cut in Lyta's Oracle File.

A quick note on the mild sexual themes, I tried to keep her origin somewhat faithful to the actual myths concerning her character (or at least acknowledge how history could have warped the original tale to the myths we know today) and I felt that the arrangement Zeus and Hippolyta made felt barbaric enough for the times, but also felt true to the character of Zeus (a divine horn-dog if ever there was one) and Hippolyta's willingness to give anything for the service of her people... and through that union, we now have Wonder Woman. I'm interested in what you guys think. Let me know.

Anyway, if this offends any of you, I apologize and would be interested to hear your feedback as well.

Earth-27 by Westerman and Cho, based on DC Comics' characters and titles.

Correct. No record of her first husband's name.

Was married to Theseus, the Founder of Athens, for some time in Ancient Greece.

For gods' sake, they're not strawwomen. Just because they don't like having men on their island for reasons that change over time doesn't mean the Amazons would just reject art made by men outright.

I advise you to read Wonder Woman comics that aren't, say, tie-ins to Countdown to Final Crisis.

We all knew when dealing with the greeks things were going to get messy, and I believe that's why Stephen Fry likes the Greek Pantheon because they made no mistake of believing their gods were perfect. Since the Greeks gave us theatre and by Β extension the 'greek tragedy' this was not gonna be all sunshines and rainbows, and I am very happy about that.

Hippolyta is a character I sadly knew little about so I am glad to have my mind opened and expanded when reading this piece, she does come across as a noble and just leader who got screwed by the gods (and yes I use that word deliberately) but in that pain something beautiful was born, the amazons and by extension Diana. Sometimes things that start out horribly have a tendency to end beautifully, am I talking about this or Greek Theatre? Heh, excellent work old friend, I apologize for only just starting this tirade of comments now but work has been very hard.

Better than that dreaded "Amazon Attacks" series or Flashpoint Amazons

Also would the Lyta nickname is close to Linda, as in Linda Carter Wonder Woman?

Love the VOX Box, especially considering Hippolyta's obsession with grandchildren at times. haha

I'd be surprised if anyone *would* be offended by this. Considering how many problems Zeus sired and caused because he couldn't keep certain instruments to himself as well as some versions of Norse sagas*, this is was incredibly tame.

* Compare and contrast Loki's appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, to his, how to put this nice, "foal" children in Norse sagas.

Roysovitch In reply to Psychoboy07 [2016-10-05 00:33:51 +0000 UTC]

The possible offense I sae was not in Zeus' part, but on Hippolyta's where she in the course of the file she is seduced by not one but two Greek Gods.
While I see the first as creating some hatred for men and the other as a sacrifice made for her people and thus both character building events in her life, I could see an argument to be made for it making her look weak.
