Description
My depiction of a Mulefa from Phillip Pullman's "The Amber Spyglass". I loved how unique these guys were in design but had a horrible time figuring out how to translate that design to paper. I think it ended up pretty well. Most pictures I've seen of them always go very elephantine, while I feel like the reference to the size and coloration of deer/antelope was mentioned several times in the book. Therefore, I still held onto the grey but added in some nice antelope browns and blacks and stole marking from antelope and tapirs.Watercolor and Ink

Best version I've seen of the Mulefa so far. I love it. I've only pictured the seeds as much smaller but your design makes so much sense!

Really cool rendering! You've captured the spirit/mood of the species well, IMO.

Holy cow this is really cool.
I love elephants but it's so rare that you get an attractively designed creature with elephant features.

This is a great depiction, with a lot of personality. Somehow in the face you've managed to make it seem more like an intelligent creature than an animal. Great job.

Fantastic!! I found it so hard to picture these interesting creatures and every interpretation I saw of them online looked weird. This totally works, and looks amazing! I particularly like their hooves
