Description This skin does not use any graphics (other than a single required file) and only uses Winamp's XML/MAKI elements for the interface. It does have a couple small issues/limitations as a result but overall it works well. The most noticeable limitation is that it cannot support color themes, although if someone was determined enough they could easily open up the code and tweak the color values to make it look however they wanted. Turned out well enough for an experiment though, enjoy the skin!

- 4 player modes: Normal, Integrated Playlist, Compact and Shade
- Normal player mode includes auto-switching album art / AVS area
- All components skinned
- Notifier with album art feature

BTW, if anyone does come up with cool color modifications to this, I'd like to see them!

I love this, very cool idea and would love to see a smaller taskbar mode and something to maybe edit the colors instead of doing random themes have it so you can change the colors on your own with a slider

thanks and again GREAT work

i've been using this for a week now. It's very unobtrusive, but still manages to be interesting enough to keep on there. Nice work

ok, Love the skin although i sent my friend the link to the download. he installed it and was all running smooth until he double clicked on the AVS, and it went full screen. Then it showed his desktop as huge somehow its screwed up him msn messenger. i have a picture if you need to see it, but this sounds really odd. Don't suppose you know why?

i don't understand how to edit the colors

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

rpeterclark In reply to silverhammer [2005-08-04 15:21:46 +0000 UTC]

Np, here's a quick lesson...

1. Rename Simple.wal to Simple.zip
2. Extract Simple.zip, the structure should end up like ...\program files\winamp\skins\simple\(zip contents)
3. Open up the various XML files in Simple\xml in a text editor, the color values in them should be relatively obvious
4. elements are a bit different, they have a "points" attribute that defines thier color in RGBA (A = Alpha)

Pay special attention to common.xml, elements.xml and xui.xml as they define most of the colors that are used. That's all there is to it! Have fun!

Yeh, any easy way of changing the colours?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

rpeterclark In reply to Rix04 [2005-08-04 12:42:07 +0000 UTC]

Unfortunately because of the way this skin was built without graphics, it does not support color themes. The best you could do at this point is crack open the source code and edit the color values directly, which really wouldn't be that bad because I intentionally made it very modular. For example, you would only have to edit the colors of a the primary "titlebar" definition to change the colors on ALL of the titlebars.

aliguana23 In reply to rpeterclark [2005-08-04 15:56:01 +0000 UTC]

yeah, i opened it up earlier, and dispite being amazingly complex (how did you to that?? lol) it looks fairly straightforward to change colours.

I'm having a go at changing it to match my Mac Tiger theme - if it looks half decent I'll email to to you.

thanks for another brilliant theme

Ok wow this is such a brilliantly simple concept yet it works so well.
This is the type of skin I love, simple and brightly coloured.

This fits in quite well with my latest setup. Burns your cornea but you cant help but feel happy looking at my screen.

~Ipiki-Ookami , I'm getting only about 7.5 MB memory usage. Maybe your computer is fuxx0rz3d?

This is a great skin, but it's been crashing on me in odd ways -( I'll try and doc it the next time it happens and send a note. Maybe Winamp's MAKI parser is broke?

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

Ipiki-Ookami [2005-08-01 19:48:06 +0000 UTC]

I love your skin. I have a question for you, does it usually make winamp use 70+mb of ram? I must admit my comp is a lil messed up but I was just wondering if it was a limitation of usuing no graphics. I am usuing transparencies and alpha blending but it never just up that high on any of my other skins. Anyways I am still gonna use it I love the notifications and I want color themes!!! ^_^

It certainly shouldn't be taking up that much memory. Try basic stuff like restarting WA or your computer. Load it with an empty playlist to see if that is making a difference. From my experience and the feedback I've received this is a light-weight skin.

iplaythespoons In reply to rpeterclark [2005-08-03 03:04:12 +0000 UTC]

hey pete. i meant to mention this before, but i too have been getting wierd memory issues with skin. when using singlegui or most other modern skins, winamp hovers at 0-1% cpu usage and 10-20 megs of ram to run, but with simple cpu usage jumps around from 5 - 15% and jumps up to 35+ megs of ram (as im writing this) even though im keeping it docked and shouldnt be using much at all. at first i though it might be me, but ive dumped my plug-ins and its not happening with any other skins, and im not keeping a huge playlist or anything. the worse part, though, is ive gotten windows memory overflow messages when left on for long periods.

anyways, i attribute the problem to winamps internal rendering system being less than perfect, as we see when stretching gradients and what have you. superb work, as usual.

rpeterclark In reply to iplaythespoons [2005-08-03 12:43:11 +0000 UTC]

Interesting, I deliberately disabled desktop alpha, limited Timer object use, and I did not place any moving elements under partially transparent gradients in an effort to save CPU. It runs really light on my computer but I've learned that WA can behave very differently from system to system for whatever reasons.

It could just be that WA has to think a little harder since it's rendering the interface itself I guess, but I don't like to hear that it's causing overflow problems...

I have similar problem with this skin. Task Manager shows that Winamp process use ~40MB, after closing winamp process still runs and i have to kill it, and there are some other stability problems with this skin. Maybe it's winamp fault, I use Winamp 5.094 and Windows Server 2003. What winamp version you use?

But skin is very beatiful.. nice work
