These are the approved sketch cards I did for Upper Deck's "Marvel Masterpieces." They were a fun challenge. It took me a few hours to get used to drawing at such a small size. I tried to limit myself to a half hour per card, but I spent a little extra time on a few of them. Download is a little bigger than full-view.If your not familiar with the sketch cards, they are special cards with original art drawn directly on the card. I think you can find about one per box. If you get a card like this, you are getting the actual drawing, not a printed reproduction of the artwork.

These are absolutely lovely. How big are they? Why are some of them colored and some not? Are they pencil or ink? I'd imagine pencil would smudge in the package.

Thanks. They're around 2.5 x 3.5 inches I think; they're the same size as a standard baseball card. They were done with pencil and ink. I used light washes of watercolor for the colored ones. All the cards were sprayed with a fixatif that prevents smudging.

wow.. I like the goods! Venom was my fave out of them all though... nothing like an awesome bad guy. And I think Venom was the best bad guy there was/is.

Heh. There's a few characters that had character designs that were easy to remember. I didn't really need look for reference for the Hulk, Goblin Queen, Logan, Phoenix, Scott Summers, or Professor X, which is why they showed up more often. I've enjoyed seeing your cards as well, Jason.

I LOVE the She-Hulk one. And why? Because you do what so few artists remember to do when they draw someone with super strength.
You made it look effortless. Sure she's lifting a huge object over her head, but what does she care? She could bench press the capitol building!
Nice job on all of them though, I particularly like the pictures of Logan because you managed to make him look gruff without giving him the "I'm a complete jack ass" face and air around him that everyone else does in modern pics of him.

These ones are bonus cards for the Marvel Masterpieces cards, which are Marvel-themed collector cards. The cards I did are for the rare bonus cards that have original art drawn directly on them.
