Very pretty, I love the different shades you used. It really shows your skill. I hope to see other little, feathered creatures in other colours. Maybe try and incorporate more than one colour in your work, like red and orange to make it look fiery. Perfect piece of work anyways. I always love to see your final products.

I'm hoping that one day, when I actually have the money, I can actually purchase one of your fine pieces. I would be honored to have one of your wonderful pieces sitting on my coffee table or displayed on my mantle.

Thanks
Yeah, I tend to stick to one-three main colours in my works... Like yellow/red, green/white/blue, black/anything... And this time blue/white. Some day I will try using more colours

I have seen many things sculpted, sewn, stuffed, cast, and many other creation actions, but this piece has created a whole new world of beading in my mind. I had often seen the beaded lizards youth would create for key chains and play things, but this artist has gone above and beyond with their talent. They have taken a common 2D medium and launched it to a whole new 3D level.

The detail and the care that has been put into the beading is incredible as is the uniqueness and creativity of the character. The colors, soft blue hues, are very gentle upon the eye which certainly allows comfortable admiration and enables the eye to float over the piece itself. Absolutely well done and masterfully executed. I do look forward to future pieces from this artist.

Thanks
That's one of my goals - to show that beads aren't only for friendship bracelets and 2d lizards (though... 2d lizards are fun. They are one of beadwork symbols, in my opinion ), and maybe inspire some people to try beadwork. Compared to those who make seed bead jewelry, there aren't many artists who make 3d sculptures... But more than there used to be, which is good

I rarely comment on these things, but I too, once I saw what it was made of, became more impressed than my initial viewing of the item. Masterfully executed is a perfect description.

could you do this thing smaller?

Rrkra In reply to mirathomson [2016-03-11 16:11:12 +0000 UTC]

Should be able to, but it'll still be fairly big, or have much less detail. Don't have some of the colours any more, too.

Hmm. Around 90€. I don't have anything comparable photographed to serve as an example, the body would be around this one's body size rrkra.deviantart.com/art/Hi-I-…

I think someone needs to write a fantasy book for your creatures....
You really do the most magnificent bead work I have ever seen.
The form and texture, the decorative patterns
are just exquisite!

I can't imagine the patience it would take to make something like that. The sheer amount of time spent on that without being able to see the final result would drive me crazy. Did it help to see each piece of it coming to a satisfying conclusion as you worked? ..Or are you one of those rare people who is just so balanced and patient that it doesn't bother you? I guess you have to enjoy doing it enough in it's own right, or you wouldn't make so many.

This is such a charming and unique little creature, the lack of 'normal' seeming proportions does not detract from it at all. The only problem I see is that it's too precious; I'd be afraid to handle something like that, for an irrational fear of breaking it. It's obvious from looking at it how much work and time it took. It has such a strong style too, and I love the feathers. I would figure out how to critique this, but I'd just be saying this exactly and giving you full stars across the board, and then be frustrated that I can't give you full stars for things like 'patience' and 'time spent' or 'investment'... or 'managed to do this without their fingers falling off or going insane from how tedious it seems'.

I'm sometimes a bit too patient - guess that's why I find such a time-consuming craft fun... Or maybe music/tv/audiobooks/gaming along with crafting helps

Heh, I always handle things I didn't make veeeery carefully ^^

Worth every minute spent

I'm glad you find it so rewarding.
