OMG These are insanely cute!! I just NEED one to hang on my backpack or use for a keychain!
And you have a tutorial!!! *glows with joy*

In fact, I think I will make Hiccup to go along with! Might have to make toothless bigger though... hm. We'll see. I have been making a collection of beadlings similar (ish) to the people in this book: ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I… I am making all (well, technically not all) the LOTR characters! However, the fact that the original Klutz beadlings are the same on both sides and could only have pigtails for hair always bothered me, so I've developed a way to give them a better back hairdo, made some taller, shorter, with capes, bows, swords, boots, fancy flared sleeves, etc. Gandalf's hat came out especially well. Once they are done I will put pictures here on dA!

You could just use bigger beads for Toothless - I found this worked fairly fine even with size 6 "pony" beads.

Sounds great - Make sure to do a group photo of them all

And true, all LOTR characters wouldn't be easy, that's quite a few hundred.

I've started Toothless with size 11 czech seed and size 8 (?) for eyes. He won't be to scale with my people but still he will make a good keychain. I have to look up how to do nbedele strands now.. It is probably in a beading book I have. I do not understand the diagram. Are those extra beads (black versus dark gray in the diagram) spikes added on top? And are the wings square stitch? (With some beads added to the edge to make it smoother)

I will! Yes, I hadn't realised there were so many before I started. And they take about 2 hours each, depending on the size and number of accessories. But, I am quite pleased with them so far, and as far as I know, no one has done it before!

Ndebele is also called herringbone in some books. Depends on the author

Yeah, those are spikes and they are optional.

And the wings are square stitch, yeah. Actually, you can do the legs and tail with 2 rows of square stitch, or do wings with ndebele - there won't be much of a difference in looks.

Looks like a very fun project

Ok. I ended up using square stitch in place of ndebele, and it worked fairly well.
