Description
I should really apologize for the quality in this on. I would've scanned them instead of using my really crappy camera but my scanner's not working right now. I tried fixing it up in Photoshop but... yeah..Anyway, last summer I got curious about bead sprites and tried looking for them. After failing to find any shop that would sell these beads (including after three shops that sell nothing but beads) I ordered some. These beads aren't expensive but shipping always adds to it, and so I never really bought enough to make really big awesome sprites, but it allowed me to make these few.
Most of them are based on existing sprites, others are
There's also Tails, Klonoa and a Moo made out of colored paper pieces cut and glued together which is also a very interesting technique and allows much more detail than beads, though more work.
They're on a board hanging on my wall and they're supported by pins, which allows me to take them off and put them back easily. I photographed them off it which explains the cork background.
Wall of text over. Nothing more to say except list what they are.
? Block, Lakitu, Spiny, Kirby, Paint Roller, General Guy, Shy Guy, Metroid, Ditto belong to Nintendo and Game Freak, Space Invaders to Taito, Megaman enemies to Capcom, Sonic and Tails to Sega, Klonoa and rest to Namco.
Magilakitu was created by me, if you can call adding clothes and changing colors "creating".

Well I didn't make most of the sprites themselves. Bead spriting an existing sprite is really just arranging the colored beads like the sprites, where basically each bead corresponds to a pixel. So it's not hard, it just takes patience.

I can understand that, but I meant I can't even recreate a sprite to save my life. Even if it's right in front of me, I'll still do something wrong.

So this is what you were talking about. They're pretty good you know. I like the Tails paper piece. They all look so fragile.

they're stronger than they look, bead sprites almost become one solid piece of plastic after being ironed. Of course you should bend them too much but yeah. The paper things are pretty much as strong as paper is though.
