Description
Jurujuba is a small beach located in the city of NiterΓ³i, inside the Guanabara Bay, very very close to Rio de Janeiro. There are so many fishboats that turn that beach into a colourful and peaceful place.
Watercolour on paper.

This is really cute. The boats which are the central subject of the piece have a lot of character, and for some reason kind of remind me of older folk sitting on a park bench.
Good brush technique and colour choices.
The composition is a little too symmetrical and centered for me; while the rock helps, it would have been great to see a little more horizontal space to the side (probably to the left), which would give this a more interesting balance (offsetting it with something else, like a bit of the dock that they seem to be tied to).
Otherwise, this is very well executed; only a couple small anomalies in the perspective- the rightmost foreground blue boat's bow looks a little lopsided, and behind it to the top right, the left boat out of that couple also looks a little lopsided. The rest are almost all very believable; although it could be argued that it is the slight imperfections that give this so much charm e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s⦠" width="15" height="15" alt="

Holy cow, that's amazing. If I may ask, how did you get that ripply, grainy effect in the water?

Thanks a lot!
This effect was achieved using a dry brush on the paper's surface (dry on dry technique). As the paper is a rough Arches 140 lb, the roughness helps a lot to get this effect.
