Description

HI!! SKY OC. my god i sure hyperfixated on this game for some time. i don't really play anymore, but i had well enough time to make a few ocs before i moved on lmao.

i first sketched Fen allll the way back in november 2021 — and just now finally managed to give them colors!! :]

also sorry in advance but i Have A Lot To Say

so. the Out Of Bounds is by definition a "game mechanic", since it's you getting past the intended collisions and seeing through all the texture-less sides of the walls. in sky specifically, it's pretty common to see small OOB holes appearing and disappearing all over the maps as updates come and go; and of course there's the whole "culture" of chibi falling and such.

[context: chibi falling is a well-known and widely used technique to clip through slopes, by wearing a mask that makes you small (chibi) and doing certain movements. the devs are well-aware of their community going OOB a lot.]

in this hc, what Fen calls "the void zone" (the OOB) is more like a weird "at the edge of reality" dimension, that looks pretty much like the pretty emptiness we see in-game. since we can't really have the "seeing through walls" thing (cause those walls are not a thing outside of the game context), it would instead be the void zone's power of making far away places look way closer, with all the weird spatial-related feelings something defying reality could give. and that's how it's used for shortcuts (by chibis for example)! also because i hc realms being a much bigger, more extended version of the locations we have in-game.

so basically, Fen's thing is to explore all around the sky world, having fun looking for those elusive "little holes in the world" that can show up and leave without warning :] (they know about chibi falling but think looking for them is more fun)

next up is some PARAGRAPHS about the outfit!!

[context: all the weirdly-named clothing sources i cite next are nicknames of the game's spirits, the NPCs that you can buy cosmetics from, or of their clothes directly. the spirits mainly give you an emote (or call/stance) so that's where some names come from. dreams, assembly, & flight are some of the game's past seasons. the trials are from another.]

the pants are made of:
- cargo because POCKETS!! need i say more?
- assembly overalls for the boots, and it's also mixed with yeti's belt thingy
- yeti (shirt and those wrist things) because one of the first easy OOBs i (and Fen too) accidentally found was in the hermit valley clouds, plus the whole dreams area has a couple more easy OOBs too so it's dreams rep.

cape is a mix of:
- phoenix (+ crab call & shush) for the shape, and dreams rep again
- crab call, shush and scold for the pattern and colors. i like how it kinda looks like bug wings. Fen will justify shush's little little orbs as "they give more light" but she mostly used them cause they look nice x)

the mask is a simplified bat/air mask for expressiveness, with a marking from assembly cause she also likes them a lot ("forest scouts making a treehouse" goes well with her gremlin explorer behavior). she likes the trials for the challenge and it's very probable she's mastered the speedrun skips

the hair is pretty much march's ponytail but lower, i found it fit The Vibes very well and since it's tied up Fen's reasoning is that it doesn't get in their eyes when they're looking around. the flight feathers look nice; flight is very important in the void zone to avoid falling to the bottom and having to meditate back home, plus the idea of shortcuts between all the realms is bound to make Fen happy.

[context: you can "meditate" back to the home space at any time in the game]

as for the props, they have two cause they mostly hold one in their hand and have the other one on the back, but also cause why not lol. both are very useful: torch is a big stick + light & energy source; you can stand on the shelf and it can hold stuff, or even hold you (Fen likes to sleep inside and it's also a good boat), hence the added walls and two compartments instead of three.

[context: the props are smaller on your back than when you place them]

aaand that's all xD

just like it's written on the ref. will infodump if asked >:]
