I did this mainly for practice, so it's a bit crappy. I don't have a tablet, so its crappier. And I did the entire drawing and lineart in school, so yeah by nature the thing is...Well, I started this in my last period history class and we were watching a movie on John Adams, which explains the coat. And ruffles. And name.
He's supposed to be hiding something behind that hand. Doesn't really show though.
Lineart with pens, then I scanned and colored it with photoshop. I WANT A TABLET SOOOO BAD.

I never read Vampire Academy, but I like the Blue Bloods. And for some reason I'm reading the House of Night books though they aren't really my type. Have you read Alex Rider or Maximum Ride?

May I give some constructive criticism?
I'm amazed that you painted it with a mouse. The shadows are well placed and with a little practice, you will get really good at digital art. Maybe you should try more contrasts in the colors, by putting, for example, purple shadows. They make a good effect.
Now some tips on anatomy. The height is correct, however, the shoulders should be wider and the arms and legs should be (how can I explain) a little bigger in width. Search some pictures of male anatomy and practice a bit more, you are in the correct way.

Thanks! I tried to make them smaller to fit his smaller frame, but I think I went a bit too far with it. X3 Oh well I'll get it right next time.
And I like your color suggestion. I put blue instead, but you can't really see that very well.

Wow... you did this without a tablet... but with a mouse? Pretty good. I can't wait to see what you can do with a tablet. I can't use mine... not only did the pen break... but i can't even find it so i can send it away x.x $45 for a new one... may as well get a new tablet lol

haha... the one i have is like 5 or six years old... it was like 180 bucks but now they sell it for 50 bucks rofl. I'm setting a $300 budget for a new one... i've been saving up for a PS3 but i'd rather have a new tablet xD

Well, I don't have a tablet yet, so I don't really know which ones are good but if you get a wacom tablet they're pretty much guaranteed to be good (according to someone I know). I would choose a tablet over any game right now, and I play video games like I eat--like a man. (if you don't know yet, I eat like really really fast, and a lot of food)

yeah. the one i have is a Wacom Bamboo Fun. Wacom is the best company for tablets out there. I used to eat a lot but as i got older my metabolism sped up and more and more types of food killed my guts... so i pretty much watch what i eat... what i love to eat usually turns around and makes me sick... yay..... early signs of crones...
