Yeah, it's just sad that most of the Alternate Glitchtale character roster is legit just recolours of Betty with different traits, I actually wanna try redesigning Mali, along with Akari, to try make them more original, like I've done with Jackson and currently, Lily and Cory...

yeah,and it usually gets disappointing when an oc looks genuinely decent but the bio and backstory makes it fall flat and boring(sometimes downright breaking canon and ridiculous,lookin at jolie),and i might try to go redesign mali as well? that depends on my mood lmao

Yeah, your pal, twilightseaprisoner , just redesigned her, and her version looks really cool. Also, yeah, I'm working on a few Alt. Glitchtale OC's myself, and I'm trying my best to not make them Betty clones, or just Mary Sues with OP abilities and and only stand out with their design, whether it's good, bad, or just ripping off an existing character. (Lookin' at you, Friska.)

oh yeah,i actually saw the process on a chat,and my personal opinion is that you can pretty much be able to make an oc be at least decent if you actually know what you're writing about and knows the rules of your oc's trait,which is the biggest problem with a lot of ocs.
(because looking back at jolie again,isn't she supposed to lose her trait if she kills betty considering that she goes agains't her own morals? like,if you're gonna make your oc a "forgiveness" soul then you gotta realize that this means your oc isn't allowed to kill anyone since it's just a more strict kindness; which is why my redesign just turns her into a perseverance/justice soul since you can at least say that she develops her own determination similiar to undyne thanks to the nature of her traits,and it's just that simple.)

I know, it would make sense if Jolie said that's what her trait was, but it really was perserverance and Justice or maybe even a negative trait. I mean, heck! Just look at Betty, sure, Dark orange represents fear, and her soul is only pink because of the Bête Noire spell, but she easily fooled everyone into thinking that it was a positive, or an entirely new trait. So why not have Jolie do the same thing?

Honestly? one of the things i really wish that spiritale had was that Jolie could be a twist villain,just look at her traits: forgiveness and trusted,why does she need something like "trust" for a soul trait? why is Betty not allowed to defeat her if they are quite literally the same thing(you know,spirit is a synonym for soul)? why does everyone instantly loves her? let's not forget that she's supposedly a naturally born yandere and also a liar!

same honestly,it stopped being a continuation once Jolie killed Betty and it became glitchtale season 2 all over again,which is a huge plot hole on it's own considering that you'd expect the characters to be more careful with who they trust,right? but no,lilith is quite literally repeating Betty's steps and no one questions it.

the way the story steals(because this is not even referencing,it's straight up stealing) dialogue from every recent episode and shoves ocs in gives it the impression that they are just going through a time loop and nobody learns anything

funnily enough? i actually asked her about the point where Olivia breaks the fourth wall when Frisk isn't even the player anymore,which means the possibility of there being "viewers" should be impossible if no player is there; But all i got was just her sending me a link to a comic that she pratically used for Jolie's 1 dialogue. (which is not a surprise since Jolie's just frisk)

so my conclusion is just that Olivia pretty much has generic villain syndrome and the only way op knows how to make her scary is "Ohhhh,it knows there are people watching,ooooooo scaryyyy!"
