When our niece was in a beauty pageant, she lost to the rich girl, and the girl whose mom was sick.

I find so many things wrong with the first girl. Her parents must have bought the competition...

The second girl, however, I feel might have been a pity-vote, but she was very enthusiastic, and she's a good natured person (her brother is someone I know from school). in a way, I think she deserved it because of her personality traits, though, not the state her mother was in.

My niece had fun, though, but she was a little pissed that she didn't win anything...
