Description
[link] <Yup, it was pretty busy over the weekend. So I think this makes it official: I will not make a comic everyday because I prefer to make them in color and to do that every day is impossible. But I will make them as often as I can.

I think we all feel the same way about prom. It's a dance--which rarely end well anyway--with the more promise and expectation than any other dance--doomed to failure--and is viewed as the most climactic, traditional event in the K-12 experience. So lessee:
10% will have to wear something embarrassing
10% will be going with someone out of obligation
10% will have tragic sex
10% will break up over a trivial comment someone half-heard over the music
10% will be disappointed waiting for the antagonist to finally gets theirs
10% will be in a lynch mob for some ignorant cause
10% will be mortified by some biological event
10% will take the opportunity to make an embarrassing declaration
10% will get thrown out for possession (alcohol, weed, drugs, weapon, etc.)
...leaving 10% who actually have at least an above-decent time at prom, most of which go without pretense or expectation, who simply want to "dance and have a good time." Of course, there's always that one delusional type who says prom is the most magical night ever. They'll eventually be that one parent overseeing their child's prom, desperately trying to get EVERYBODY involved in the prom... yikes.
I didn't go to mine, and they say you'll always regret it, but I enjoyed spending the evening with close friends, watching movies and avoiding the drama. (Actually, we found ourselves being called in to the after-prom drama, but by and large, successful avoidance.)

Wow I've never heard/read all of that about prom. I'm just going because a bunch of people told me to and I figured that since I don't usually go to dances I should probably go to this one. I don't really know what to think about it. I'm not going with anyone...I suppose I just plan to have a good time...just make the best of it. People say I don't get out enough and I'm living a sheltered life, which is somewhat true, so I guess I wanted to show my friends that I can go to prom and not be "lame" even though I've only gone to one dance before in which all of my friends were telling me to dance, but I don't know how to dance, so I tried and enjoyed it, but I wasn't very good. Every time I stopped dancing for like five minutes someone else who hadn't even tried told me I should "dance" again so I said, "Why it's not like you're dancing?" to which they replied, "I'm not good at dancing," to which I replied, -facepalm......"Me neither......"

Sounds like you're better than you think you are. Next time they approach you to keep dancing, demand that they dance with you, and don't take no for an answer! You may actually achieve having a good time at prom!
