XD I thought of this the other day... and I've been convincing myself more and more.
Think about it! Lopez is constantly frustrated that no one can understand him, and sure, Wash can understand Meta most of the time (or at least we think he can), but Meta doesn't even get subtitles! Who better to understand such a lonely existence than someone who understands the pain? Besides, we already know Meta has a AI/technology fetish XD

Well, I was thinking about it, and Wash and Meta killed Lopez, right? Only he had mentioned that he had made a backup copy of himself earlier that day. Soooo if the Meta was left alone for any ammount of time and was poking around the Red Base, and picked up the irresistible scent of an AI, wouldn't he try and snag it? Sure, Lopez isn't an Alpha-derived kind of AI, so he couldn't help him run his armor enhancements too well, but at least he'd be company
