A bit of news that completely went under the radar for me until I saw some posts like this and deviations like this was that Jessica Rabbit would be getting an update in her character as seen for "Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin" in Toontown! This change inspired me to do my version of Jessica taking up the mantle after Eddie Valiant (given Bob Hoskins' passing ). I did my own twist as well to challenge myself for a comic format (after a longer break from it) and re-designing Jessica's detective suit to be more suitable to her character.

Interestingly, I've seen people online criticize this change because they think it is similar to the way that other "sexy" female characters have been changed to be more "progressive" (which is a "whole can of worms" to talk about). In comparison to other examples, I actually LOVE the idea of Jessica's role progressing even further considering how her role is SUPPOSED to expand beyond the "femme fatale" singer stereotype into a more well-rounded character. Given her hidden cunning, and her ability to toe the line between toons and humans with her attractive design and pragmatic nature (something that thought pieces like this point out), I'm intrigued to see if Disney does anything more with her to be her own badass, private eye self in her dedication of her morals and the truth.
