Dancing slowly in an empty room, can the lonely take the place of you?Let you go and let the lonely in to take my heart again. The loneliness will stay with me and hold me til I fall asleep. This is a contest piece, for the Picture The Song Contest. Basically, I had to choose a song from the soundtrack of "Love Hurts 5 Ways" and draw a scene that shows what the main character, Aki, is feeling or thinking. I chose The Lonely by Christina Perri. This song demonstrates the terrible loneliness Aki feels. She feels completely alone, but also acts as if she doesn't need anyone. The drawing I did shows her giving into her loneliness. Loneliness is a dark, scary, starved being in this picture, much as it is in real life. To the other side of the picture, Aki is shown "happy." It is not a true happiness though. It is grey because it is almost like a statue, or mask, instead of what she really is. It is what everyone sees. The sky, going from light to dark, shows how there could be happiness in what she is acting like, if only she would turn and look, but she has her back on the brighter future and is facing loneliness.

I had a lot of fun with this, and went through so much paper trying to come up with this concept. I don't expect to win though. It has been requested of me to include more of "loneliness" in my art, so you will be seeing more of that creepy fella.
