Description
Another watercolour practice, did this last night, an hour or so I think.Think this paper was a bit better than the other one.
I'm a little too critical about this one (as I always am about my work) so I won't say more about it.
Guess who..

Superb work! I am always impressed by the style of your watercolours; it's instantly recognizable as John, but there's that little something "extra" to it. Fantastic colour choices and light. Great choice for the background wash as well.

Thank you very much
I'm glad you noticed the light; I was thinking a lot about it while painting, trying not to do the mistake of getting it all too dark. I'm afraid I do that too often, and sometimes just forget to leave the highlights. It could have a connection with usually spending more time than necessary, with too many layers of colour.
For some reason I like to have blue in the bacground, at least on the two watercolour portraits I've got here. Could be because of the blue eyes, and the fact that the colour is not used other places in the picture, it was natural to use blue for shirt and background.

The blue works realy well- it's a great contrast to the other colours, and brings out the highlights.

thank you
Still need some practice, but now at least I have the time.
And it was a breakthrough to do something without spending all day on it, I'm always so afraid of doing something wrong in watercolours that I spend more time than necessary on every painting.
Funny thing is, I had a deja vu while painting it, at the most critical point of the whole painting, feeling that it was all patches of colour that didn't fit together at all. I'm quite sure I dreamed that only the night before.

I'm glad you recognized him - I thought it looked too much like a person my mum plays cards with xD
Well now I guess I'll have to paint the rest of the Beatles, too Or at least McCartney. Some time.
