Anyone familiar with Conte crayons? They're like pastels or charcoal but with natural, earthen clay mixed in to give them their colors. They're almost exclusively made from natural ingredients. Because of this, their color selection is somewhat limited. This has another side effect, almost no one in my area carries them. They come in pencil and stick forms. This was done with the 4 colors I got from the big, massive university art store, which disappointed the fuck outta me since they only had 4 colors. So, this is Alice, my superheroine babe, who I'm sure you guys realized isn't in her actual colors. That's because the 4 most readily available colors are black, white, brown, and "sanguine." The blue on Alice's belly is chalk pastel. Now, here's the thing, Conte blends really nice, and much easier than pastel and charcoal and it erases better, so it has some uses, despite its low color pallet. Oh, Alice is outlined in blue gel pen and you can see 2 dots of it on her belly, for her belly ring of course.

I kinda like this piece, I kinda hate it too. It should be regulated to like, abstract stuff or naked stuff lol. Idk, Alice in red...or "sanguine" rather, fuck that. But at least I found a use for my Strathmore Artagain paper. It is so black that my colored pencils can't overpower it. Black will always show through, so it's kinda useless. My toned grey paper is way better for colored pencil drawings but I figured I'd try something new. Let me know what youy guys think.
