The Librarian Part 2

-Yet another wonderful day, not nearly as sunny as the other days, but still just as good.  Once again, I find myself heading to the library for some more knowledge and “eye candy”.  Ah, there she is, Sophie, the assistant librarian.  After my first encounter with her I’ve been coming to the library more and more.  I don’t know if it’s because I actually like reading or if it’s because of her…I wonder.  Today I grab a book on the Russian Empire and actually get far into until Sophie begins her daily routine of stacking books away.

-I notice she’s wearing a navy blue maternity skirt with a light blue, long sleeved shirt.  Her hairs up in yet another pony tail, same cute glasses, same beauty.  At this point I begin to slowly lose attention in my reading and turn more and more to her.  I don’t notice it right away but I’m beginning to stare, not just at her belly as I was the first time, but now towards her in general, why I wonder.  She notices me staring, I guess after four straight days of it might have blown my cover.  Sophie begins to walk over in my general direction with a small smile on her face.  Oh dear lord, why is she walking over here, I bet she’s upset, oh man this isn’t going to end well.

-“Hello again, how is Mr. History today?”- Sophie says.

-“Uh, what, oh yeah me, um, I’m fine, good actually, h-how about you?”- I reply.

-“Oh me, I’m good, well, were both good today”- She responds

-“Both of you” I ask in puzzlement.

-“Yeah, me and my little one here” says Sophie rubbing her belly a little.

“Oh yeah, sorry, I should have thought of that, sorry” I say in an embarrassed tone.

“No worries, so I’ve noticed your attention has been well focused on me lately, why is this?”- Sophie asks

-I begin to twiddle my thumbs nervously, not sure what to say, so confused, so worried, maybe I should lie, maybe I should tell her the truth, maybe I should change the subject and avoid it like a coward, oh no….

-“Um, err, I uh, just think you’re pretty that’s all” I reply in a nervous, cracking voice.

-“Really, I always thought my bump would scare any good looking men away, do you like what you see Mr. History?” Sophie remarks in a peaceful manner.

-“I do”- As I respond with a smile on my face, and beads of sweat running down my brow.

-Wow, maybe this could go somewhere amazing, I doubt it though, I mean, she doesn’t even know me, she probably won’t like me, hell, I don’t like me.

-“So, what’s your name if you don’t mind me asking” Sophie asks as she sits down at the desk I’m reading at.

-I stare at her some more, taking notice of how tight her shirt is around her body, how beautiful she seems.  Sophie gets comfortable, fidgeting around in her seat that is a tad too small for someone of her size.  She places her hand on top of her pregnant belly, stroking it ever so lightly.

-“M-my name is Jack, pleased to meet you”- I say.

-She smiles at me and says “Pleased to meet you too”.

-As I sit here I wonder to myself “why am I so calm”.  I am just so calm, so warm, so soothed, why?  Is it because of her?  Is it because she’s pregnant, or because of something else?  Maybe I...I like her, but how, I just met her, it must be something else.  Am I wrong for thinking these thoughts; am I wrong to have these feelings for her already?  I don’t know, I don’t understand, and for once in my life, I don’t care, I am enjoying myself here and hopefully this is the beginning of something wonderful.
