That was challenging, drawing nothing but foliage.

Badass!
A nice cinematic page. Good acting with the drawing as well, such as the older man hold the wounded guys hand. Those mannerisms can really help sell a feeling.

do you use blue pencil to rough it out first before you add your (amazingly) tight pencils?

RudyVasquez In reply to StevenHoward [2008-06-07 17:08:18 +0000 UTC]
Actually no, I've never used blue line pencils so it's a little nerve racking at first but I just go in light and have to be confident about my tight pencils.

One aspect just off the top of my head is "cleanliness". Blue Pencils are for roughs which is good but, it allows me to be far to rough and messy. I just work very light blocking in proportions with my first lines. Obviously the first line isn't always the best, so I fix where needed.
If I draw in blue, roughing it out. Once I get to inking or just the clean ups I rely to much on the roughs and I tend to think less about what I'm doing. I don't like that to happen so I just work it out as I go allowing myself to think 100% of the way though the drawing.
Dats my way anyways.

Looks great Rudy. I admire the cleanliness of your pencils
I'm working away on pages for the comic collab I'm doing...and I tend to be slightly more 'sketchy' coz i'm inking it aswell...so...anyway not important. lol!
