Description
This is a sample page I did for my agent to show Marvel and DC editors. I am still going to finish the sequence. It's a reinterpretation of a classic X-men story.Related content

Fantastic. So much detail. I love your style. Too bad I don't work for Marvel, I'd have hired you like yesterday. Good luck with this!

I could definately see you illustrating for Punisher. Your style is suitably dark.

well i really hope you do well and that you ace the portofolio somewhere. I love the line work and the way the character depth is .. there are some weak points that could of been touched on, like the bottom panel with magneto. was he hanging on to the wall or what? but other than that, i really am impressed with the overall sense of panel display. one of your best.

i just didnt know what he was doing. it may be the elaborate pencil work.. but all in all, it's a great piece. i love the layouts of the storyboard. it's never easy to do. i constantly stuggle at it. good luck. thanks for the faves. it keep trying myself. it's not an accomplished feat.

lol-Thanks! In case it's still not clear, he's magnetically tossing colossus into the air with a wave of his hand.

Awesome picture. I am unable to critique. It's just too good.
But I do wonder; do you base these comic pages from pre-written scripts? or is this a straight-on remake of the exact scenes in the originals?

RudyVasquez In reply to Red-Phantom [2007-08-18 15:57:14 +0000 UTC]
Thanks Allan. It's pretty much a remake, though I alter it for story flow, adding and deleting details as necessary. I attempt not to emulate but convey the scenes loosely in my own way and style. it's kind of like drawing from an old script.

Thanks, man. Quick question: is that Beast or Wolverine in the first panel? Common sense says "Wolverine wears a mask, but Beast does it 'en naturale'"...but.

I'm pretty much into overdrive with this page and I was wondering if you had any more of the sequence? Like a page before this or after it? If you're still doing more of these, I'd be happy to colour those too.

Well I tell ya - I don't subscribe to X-men (YET). But if they pick you up - I will be buying!
That way I can gloat about how "I knew Rudy Vasquez BEFORE he became rich and famous! Back when he was a super-talented UNDERPAID comic artist!"
So - did I kiss up enough for an autograph when I see you at the Marvel booth at next years Wizard World Chicago Comic-Con?
(Which btw - is FINALLY a CON I will be attending in 08 - after a nearly 15year 'CON dought. Course I'll also be at the Afterburn Media tables as an Artist myself. If I'm mega-lucky - IDW. Heheh!)

this looks awesome. by the way how do you get an agent? I know im only 16 so im too young to have one but I wanted to know so that when im old enough I know how to go about getting one. thanks

RudyVasquez In reply to DragonRider91 [2007-08-18 15:30:51 +0000 UTC]
I'm not really sure either to be honest. They scout around and recruit talent for their studio. The agency gets a percentage from any job they get for you, but it's great because Marvel and DC like to use these agencies because they're doing the work of getting reliable talent for them. My agent regularly has meetings with many editors on behalf of all the artists he represents. All I know, is that I was recommended and asked if I wanted the representation. Of course, I said, yes. In this business, any help is good.
