First photo up of my Sync cosplay from Anime Boston 2010.
Favourite pose for the character so far, found myself doing it on accident by the end of the convention.
I can't tell you guys how much I love this costume, it was even pretty comfortable to wear around the con which is a first for my heavy-duty cosplays.

Aw, thank you so much! I know how you feel...honestly it's part of the reason I put that much effort into his costume. D,: If there aren't enough really nice ones going around, all the more reason to set the bar high above your head.

Yes! 8D I don't know why it's so hard for some people to put a little bit of effort into their costumes. I cosplayed Tear a couple years ago, but even though I can't sew I still cared enough to have it look good!

Haha, I think anime costumes in general just don't tend to make sense. I wish I could make my own patterns and things, it sounds like so much fun! I guess I'm just not very good with converting 3D into 2D. :>
I ended up ordering her dress off eBay but it was huge and the zipper was sewn in badly. ): So I got it altered locally to fit me right and fix the zipper. The gloves were horrible so I made my own (and bought a pair of white gloves at a thrift store!) and even with my poor sewing skills they looked ok! But most importantly, I got a nice wig which really helped. >> hehe << I find a poor wig can ruin the whole look (which I don't understand why some people have amazing costumes and then don't do anything with their hair or just have a crappy wig).
I do understand that not everyone can afford to get something super nice and just want to dress up for fun, but I've seen many simple cosplays where the people still looked nice without having anything fancy, rather than people who like, can't even comb their hair haha. (And mine are in no way awesome or perfect, but I put the care into making myself presentable as I would if I were going out any time. I guess some people just don't care about those things haha.)

Oof- They exist in a perpetual state of inconsistent insanity. xD I can't say I ever find it fun, but it is certainly a rewarding challenge. Making them from scratch is awful though, I know what you mean with translation dimensions. I generally alter patterns before I jump to making my own if I can.
You know I keep hearing about problems like that with ordered cosplays. Sizing is something that you really need to have done yourself, or at least with you around to try it out and make sure it's well done. You can never fit something properly to someone with their measurements alone, I know, I've tried. xD; Oooh! Hey now that doesn't look bad at all! You make a lovely Tear, and it looks like you had a great group with you. :3
I can't tell you how many times I've wanted to tell someone they're killing their costume with a bad wig. It's not hard to find the right wig for something if you look hard enough, and there are always people you can commission to do it. And I've seen someone spend forever on their outfit and then decide to use their own hair, which was completely inaccurate. It looked as though they simply bought a high quality costume and couldn't be bothered to research the hair. >: Made me very sad.
Exactly! If you can't afford a super complicated costume bought or made, or you're just looking for something to have some fun in, then maybe you should pick a costume that's simpler or easier to put together. In any case people need to learn simply to put the extra effort in and bring a little extra life to their character!

That's actually a group we "picked up" haha. My friend was Luke but I didn't know the others. But yea, I ordered another one (Naoto/Persona 4) and even though I ordered a S, it was like.. XL. I got the jacket tailored as much as plausible and took in the shirt quite a bit myself, but it's still big on me. It was a lot worse than the Tear costume for sizing, even though it was higher quality in make. I figure they must make them bigger so you CAN alter them, but man, that Naoto costume was overkill haha.
Anyway, thanks a lot for your compliments. I've had fun talking cosplay with you! This is my first year that I didn't cosplay in a long time so I really missed it. ;3;

Ah but those are the best group sometimes. You leave with new friends. Eh, see that's depressing though. There's a limit to how far you should ever take that thinking. Maybe an inch or so bigger all over so there can be alterations, but not more.
Hey no problem! I love talking cosplay with people who take it to heart. :3 Awww, I can't imagine how that feels, but on the bright side it means the next time you pick up cosplay you'll have twice the drive to do it well!

Amazing pose and well done on the costume! I do have to ask you: how did you do your wig and get your spikes to stay up?? I gotta say that was my biggest problem doing my wig, and I never did get them to stand up properly.

Thank you! Haha, I believe you've asked me this one before actually, if you scroll up. But all it is is spraying it a little at a time with Got2B freezespray and then holding it. xD It's a lot of holding and waiting.

Oh of course I will! He's way too much fun to cosplay as to give up, and I spent way too much time on it. My girlfriend actually did a chunk of the work on the wig, but it's nothing but razoring down the wig into the long layers, teasing the bases of the spikes, using Got2B freeze spray on it, and then...holding it for a very long time.xD It's rather time consuming and sticky but as you can see it worked.

lol Yes, it looks amazing. I'm still doing some finishing touches on mine, mainly in the back. Hopefully I'll eventually get some pictures up on Deviantart of the costume. ^^
