Still got Avatar on the mind.Rough pencils (actually pretty clean, but still...rough work) of Iroh costume reference notes. Except for the younger Iroh (extreme left, completely invented, story idea too) and the General Iroh (Ba Sing Se siege), the clothes are referenced from screenshots. The thing is, with his general armour, nothing was seen below the breastplate. The big flame design can be seen on other generals' armours in the serie. But the lower part is still just speculation.
Seeing how little Iroh changed over the years, I didn't dare move too far away from his overall look for his younger self.
Eh, that's the thing before starting projects or ideas: notes notes and more notes. See what work, doodles for easy reference during work, etc...Just in case I ever do something with all these.

Stick Daemons make little commentaries apparitions. They tend to do that, but not too often.
Iroh belong to Mike and Bryan, Nickelodeon and Viacom. I'm just having fun drawing him.

Perfectly fine. I based the young Iroh on a scene from the show, a flashback, when we see him with young Luten. I wish I remembered which episode it was...

may i make a suggestion for another character? um, maybe you could draw Zhao like you did for Iroh. in Commander uniform, ship's captain uni, admiral uni, his water tribe clothes with and without the the coat? probably not though, eh? not enough time?

Hahaha. Iroh is definitely my favorite character in the series. The outfits look great, and I love the Fire Nation's pointy shoes. XD Hmm he looks so similar throughout his years, I realize, and ... wow he's short.

I love this! I play Iroh in an lj RP and this just captures him so perfectly. The hot springs time is my favorite, of course, but everything else is wonderful as well!

So I take it that you made the first costume? Is there a story to that or did you want to make him with that uniform?

Notice how I hid that uniform under a cloak- didn't have to think too hard as to what the armor would look like.
The idea behind it is that he once went to either the north or south pole to fight waterbenders (he does mention having had the time to observe them long enough to be able to create his lightning redirecting technique). I was having fun with an idea but trashed it as being a bit weak.

Brilliant! Amazing! It will be my background for years to come. One little thing though, it's a technicality so it doesn't really matter, but I thought I would let you know. Technically speaking the young 20 year old Iroh shouldn't be wearing the crown thing that you gave him. He should be wearing one like the one that Roku was always wearing. This is because, at this point in his life, Iroh was still the crown prince. It wasn't until later in his life, after his father Azulon died, that the birthright was switched over to Ozai. It was written in Azulon's will. Although I kind of like the effect of the one that you've given him, so I wouldn't really change it. I was just letting you know.

I just gave Iroh a very simple fire symbol, close to what Azula and Zuko are wearing in their day to day time at the palace. Nothing fancy. He could be also wearing the crown prince one since it is, indeed, his right to do so.
